jtval 0 #1 November 8, 2007 Nothing like the previous posts. THESE ARE NOT PETS. Does anyone have advice on how to rid my yard of cats? For 3 years these little fuckers have been using my yard as a hang out. I didnt mind too much but since I got my dog they are pissing everywhere and it stinks. I know its them because they piss on the outside of my door when the dog is inside. He goes nuts but as soon as I open the door they run off. I don't own a gun and I wouldnt be able to shoot it anyway, since my neighbors live 18ft away. I don't want to try to poison them in fear that my dog would get into it. I tried to catch them in a live trap but they ain't falling for it. Any ideas? I was going to get some paint balls for my PBgun but as soon as they hear the door noise they take off.My photos My Videos
BillyVance 35 #2 November 8, 2007 Do you have a garage with an automatic door opener? I had that problem before, stray cats harassing my cats. I set the garage door open about 12 inches, put cat food in a bowl in the garage at the other end from the door, and left the door to the kitchen ajar just enough to see through and waited with remote in hand. Once they got inside and were at the food, I hit the button and the door shut before the cats could escape. Then I called animal control. Dude came and boy did he get scratched up! Just grabbed those sons of bitches by the tail and dropped them in cages, and hauled them off. Note that was the second time. The first time I tried to catch one in the garage with gloves and old winter coat to protect myself, but once I got my hands on it, it went apeshit, becoming a ball of fur with claws wildly swinging in all directions! Of course, it took about a week before I could get them to come back in the garage after that. monkycndo 0 #6 November 8, 2007 Get on the roof with the biggest supersoaker you can find. Here kitty kitty.A buddy set up his sprinklers on a timer that he could control manually from in the garage. When ever his dog started barking due to the neighborhood cats hanging out in his yard, he turned on the sprinklers. Didn't take long to train the cats to leave once they heard a dog barking. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. jtval 0 #7 November 8, 2007 I'm worried I'll end up with a coyote or a bob cat in there. (bobcats have been popping up all over town lately, even on the strip)My photos My Videos
freethefly 6 #8 November 8, 2007 once they move in, really no way to get rid of them. Either hope they move on or call a wild animal trapper or trap em yourself and take them to the humane society. Try this list for a trapper. Feral cats are nothing to mess with. They come and go here at my place all year long. http://www.aaanimalcontrol.com/professional-trapper/howtogetridofstraycats.htm"...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." jtval 0 #10 November 8, 2007 A motion detector atached to M-80's?For those weak of humor I wouldn't do that. I'd be afraid my dog would set em off. My photos My Videos
ltdiver 3 #11 November 8, 2007 Quote A sprinkler attached to a motion detector. Got the Scarecrow and enjoyed it scaring not only the neighborhood cats that came to poop on my front lawn, but also the neighbors who didn't know it was there the first couple of days. However, it seems to have changed its appeal this month (only 2 months after installing it). My next door neighbor (home to most of the surrounding cats) told me a story yesterday. Seems that 2 of her more curious cats have made a game out of the sprinkler... One sits just outside the perimeter of spray, while the other one walks up and sets it off. They take turns entertaining themselves. Guess, as they say, that's now $$ down the drain... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
