MrFreefall383 0 #26 November 10, 2007 Quote Quote Gonna post the update from today on here since it's the new thread. 300 situps, 150 reverse crunches, 150 side crunches per side, and 200 arm/leg lifts. I'm not impressed until you get into the 1,000's for sit ups. I'll be there soon enough, don't you worry about that. As for this morning, I swam a total of 2500m. First 500 was sidestroke flutterkick development, second was backstroke flutterkick development, third was anaerobic lengths in 100m increments with 4 strokes/breath as my start and finish, upping it 2 strokes/breath every 100m. Fourth was simply a fins and goggles swim, and fifth was goggles only as a cool-down. Will definitely be doing more ab exercises later in the day, because my abs still aren't showing enough progress. Miranda 0 #28 November 11, 2007 I've lost 2.5lbs in the last 3 weeks....only 14.5 more to go. I actually made it to the gym 5 days this week for 2 hours each day. Oh, and I have a new love ~ SPIN!! It's great!! It's sooooo hard but feels so good when I finish! I saw a girl with a t-shirt on last week that read - Enjoy the pain....it's the weakness leaving the body. That's been my motto this week and it's really helped me to push myself that extra step. Man I love this stuff, wish I had started this sooner and not been such a slacker. MrFreefall383 0 #34 November 11, 2007 Today was a day off, and happy about that too, because a few hours ago my left shoulder started hurting, which is strange, because my right collar bone was the one I broke in first grade, and that's the one that usually hurts. Could be that my left is my pulling arm when I'm swimming without a snorkel. Been stretching it all day, hopefully it'll be all stretched out and loose again for Tuesday morning when I swim again."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

ACMESkydiver 0 #38 November 13, 2007 I've slept for 3 days. I want to do some light cardio tonight to get me back going, but man I felt like I had been hit by a truck wen I woke up this morning. MrFreefall383 0 #39 November 13, 2007 Went swimming this morning, did 1500m, some kick development, some fins and snorkel, some fins and goggles, and my shoulders are both hurting a little bit now. It's kind of strange, I've never had shoulder pain when working out, but I guess that means I'm in the conditioning phase. I think I just have to put a little more emphasis on building my shoulders, because this is the same thing that happened with my ankles when I started swimming with fins, and now they're fine after directional drills."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
ACMESkydiver 0 #40 November 14, 2007 I finally got in a 30 minute cardio variable intensity on the treadmill at the gym yesterday. It felt great; I had my heart rate up, adjusted incline from 2-5%, get the pace quick and my heartrate in the 150-160 range, and didn't over-do it. I'm still sick, and so are my boys...but at least I got a workout in finally. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. tigra 0 #41 November 14, 2007 I'm glad you made it to the gym. Most of the time, I feel great after some cardio even if I felt crappy beforehand. I had a long workout last night- got off work on time and had an extra hour before my Latin Cardio Dance class. I was tired and hungry by the time I left the gym last night! Tonight is my night with the trainer and we'll be doing legs. YIKES!
ladydyver 0 #42 November 14, 2007 Winds were between 40-90mph up in anacortes so I got 2days off from working out.....also got 3 lbs back - urgh! Do you go to a gym & the lights are out, or do you mean you had more work because of the winds? HEY! We could all take up that one sport...um, what's it called? When they skate or surf under a huge kite? That takes a lot of upper body strength! Quote Headed off to the gym shortly...it will be cardio and lower body today. tigra 0 #45 November 14, 2007 For months, I was pretty much only doing cardio on the elliptical but last spring I realized I needed to vary my routine a little bit so I signed up for the Latin Cardio dance. Its awesome- fun and a great workout- mostly cardio but she also really works your legs and throws some arm work in there as well plus stretching at the end. Plus I've met some new friends in the class and its easier to head out to the gym regularly when there are friendly familiar faces there, right? The same teacher also has a Capoera (sp?) class at a different location and I try to catch that class as often as I can. She's a lot tougher in that class! Still, I have to say the biggest difference since the spring is the strength training I started in August when I finally broke down and shelled out some cash for a trainer. I haven't lost any weight since then but I'm down another pants size. And I'm not "dieting" at all- I'm not counting calories, carbs or fat grams. I'm pretty much eating what I feel like when I feel like it. (yes, my eating habits have improved a little bit over the past year os so, but still...........) Proof that muscle weighs more than fat, I guess!
MrFreefall383 0 #46 November 14, 2007 400 situps this morning, then 300 reverse crunches, 100 birds, and 100 arm haulers. Probably going to do some pushups tonight, then another swim tomorrow morning. Going to simply work through the shoulder pain, because the birds and arm haulers didn't seem to aggravate the pain, and I thought they might. It's probably just conditioning pain, so I'll ignore it and move on."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
ACMESkydiver 0 #47 November 14, 2007 I wish my gym had aerobics classes, but there isn't a dance floor. I haven't heard of that other thing you're talking about 'capoera' or whatever. I am thankful that the pilates, yoga, and ab classes are free at the gym I'm at, though. And we have a newly licensed pilates instructor (she was my personal trainer and was in the pilates class with me when I first started! I'm hoping she will have a little more 'toned down' version, or at least some easier modifications for us meatballs that aren't graceful. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. tigra 0 #48 November 14, 2007 Capoera (sp?) is a Brazilian martial arts- think TaeBo latin style? Kicks, lunges and punches to a latin beat. At Ballys, they incorporate a lot of cardio and a little dance. Its really cool and I like it enough that I wouldn't mind taking a real class at a martial arts center one of these days. For cardio, at this point I can actually do the ellipitical for a really long time, just zoning out with my iPod and watching whatever is on the tv monitors in front of me, but the classes are a nice change of pace. ACMESkydiver 0 #49 November 14, 2007 Wow, that sounds like fun!
