RALFFERS 0 #1 November 17, 2007 Does anybody know if when you make a rental car reservation online, does the place charge the card right away, or do they charge it when the you pick it up? I ask because i need to rent a car for next weeks trip, and I just made a $400.00 payment to be able to do this, but it hasn't posted yet. The rental costs $126.00, and I have $136. available credit. as of right now. I don't want to go over limit, but I also don't want to wait till the very last minute (as if I haven't already done just that) to rent the car and have to pay jacked up prices. Any thoughts? Thanks.Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of
JENNR8R 0 #2 November 17, 2007 I've always been charged when I turn the car in. But here's a radical thought. Why don't you call the car rental company and ask them what their policy is. What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday.
kschilk 0 #3 November 17, 2007 GEnerally, they don't charge until you return it, in case there are add-on charges."T'was ever thus."

ladyskydiver 0 #5 November 17, 2007 I usually go through Hotwire to get my rental cars. Hotwire charges you right away for the rental. The car company will only charge you when you return it if there are any additional charges to be made - i.e. you didn't fill your gas tank up, damaged the car, etc. I've been able to get cars for as cheap as $14/day, and Hotwire uses the "top" car companies - i.e. Hertz, National, etc.Life is short! sunshine 2 #6 November 17, 2007 I'm renting a car in 2 weeks, and i was told they need to 'blackout' $250 + the price of renting the car for 4 days. When i turn the car in is when they will actually charge the card the 4 days rental fee and take the $250 blackout off. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! BIGUN 1,488 #7 November 17, 2007 I deal directly with the rental agencies. They run the card in advance for approval. They charge the card on return.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

I'm sorry - I didn't mean to make you feel like that. I'm just glad that I can help people save money. I know how ridiculous prices can be on things. I've, also, used the hotels section of it as well and have ended up with really nice hotels. The only thing that I don't use is the flights feature - and that's just because I need to know what time the flights leave/return.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly!
