floridadiver81 0 #27 November 18, 2007 I went through something similiar. It was roughly a year and a half ago. I met this girl through a mutual friend. We talked for about a week before actually going out on a date. Everything was going fine. Went did the traditional dinner and a movie date. Everything was fine till we went back to her house. It wasnt really dirty...completely unorganized...but the worst part about it...ROACHES!!!!!!!!!! Just imagine the movie "Joe's Apartment" but completely in reality. I was in the house for not more than a few minutes and they started crawling all over me. They were all in the furniture..literally hundreds of them crawling all over the walls. Typically roaches dont bother me...but in mass quantities i dont see how that cant gross anyone out! Needless to say there wasnt a second date. I kept thinking in the back of my head..."oh shit..what if she wants to go back to the bedroom!!!!!!!!!""Age has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, learning, respect, attitude, or personality." -yardhippie "Fight the air, and the air will kick your ass!!! LisaM 0 #30 November 19, 2007 I have a co-worker who keeps his cube like that. And he'll offer me a snack or something extra he has. Ummm..... no thanks! His cube stinks and is messy as heck! Actually his last day was Friday and as I left for the day I gave him my bleach cleaner and sponge and told him to make it sparkle! ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder? JohnMitchell 16 #31 November 19, 2007 I like things organized, I like to start the day off with a clean kitchen and a hot pot of coffee, and I like to find my stuff when I want it. With that said, we have 2 grownups, 3 kids, and several small pets in a 3300 sq ft home. My wife runs a business in the loft, the kids have their stuff and hobbies, and I do woodworking, remodeling, and all other kinds of crafts and hobbies. How we ever manage to straighten up and put stuff away amazes me sometimes. Our furniture is fair to mediocre at best. There are usually books, magazines, DVDs, and all other sorts of stuff laying around. We'll never make Homes and Gardens, but we have a lot of fun. But the extreme of rotting food, trash on the floor everywhere, and pathological filth is something else. People should be able to throw garbage in the garbage. To not do so is just gross and is also unhealthy. They need to get control of their lives and of themselves.
Rookie120 0 #32 November 19, 2007 Quote Why do you suppose people live like that? I have no idea. When I got out of the military I got a job with AT&T installing cable. I thought it should be an easy job before I go to college. My god some of the places I seen people live made me wonder. I went into one place that had so many roaches I was stepping on them just walking across the living room. Dirty dishes piled to the ceiling. Trash al over the place and the smell was enough to make the strong stomach person gag. The worse one was a trailer I went into. They had a dog that was not house broke and they had piles of crap all over the place that had not been cleaned up. The smell was so bad I walked in, lasted less than 1 minute then I ran outside where I then lost my lunch behind my work truck. I had to call one of my co-workers to come help. He did the work inside and I did all the cable outside. My sister who is a medic has some awful stories of her own that beat mine. Makes you wonder sometimes. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

popsjumper 2 #34 November 19, 2007 I know a lot of this type of people. They show up at any number of DZs every weekend. They trash the place and don't pick up behind themselves. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. BillyVance 35 #35 November 19, 2007 Quote This was more than just being a dirtbag. There's a difference between messy and downright disgusting. This place was disgusting. I felt my shoes sticking to the floors. Is this a form of depression or mental illness? I've visited a house like that before. The mother of a friend of mine is a complete douchebag. I felt sorry for her, but it was sickening. Unstable 9 #36 November 19, 2007 You'd think that there would be little alarm bells in peoples heads that when their living conditions fell to that point, the bells would go off and encourage some type of change in their lives. I always kinda felt this way for really obese people, no offense to those who have loved ones with this disease. Shouldn't something in your life be screaming for change ' "Hey, this isn't right!!" Sadly I think too many people turn those alarms off. I've been in your shoes in a guests home and been uncomfortable, and I've even thrown a desert of mayonnaise-covered tomatoes and chocolate sprinkles out an open window while the host was up. "Yum, those were good...."=========Shaun ==========

airtwardo 7 #38 November 19, 2007 ...been offered something to drink or eat? Quote I even balked at SITTING DOWN once! Stopped by a cousin's house in Nor. Cal. a few years ago... He & his wife are highly paid professionals both with PHd's, and the house was a trash dump inside & out. We're talkin' a house worth in the million dollar range and after my wife used the bathroom, suggested we leave post haste! The place I shared with a couple other skydivers in college was a Martha Stewart operating room in comparison! You could tell even the roaches nesting on the dining room table were embarrassed by the filth! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
2fat2fly 0 #39 November 19, 2007 When I was still playing fireman two of us went to an apartment to check an oven fire that the residents called in (the fire was out but they wanted it checked out). The fire was out but when we moved the oven to unplug it, roaches ran everywhere, There were bags of garbage spilling over in the floor. I spent nearly an hour in the shower wehn I got home and still felt nasty. I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
Ashkit 0 #40 November 19, 2007 Ya Know, My mother always had a thing with that over the roll under the roll choice... I don't get it, don't care either way, wouldn't even notice which way it was anywhere I went... I guess I'm not that observant with the small stuff! Whether you think you can or can't either way you're right!
