skypapa 0 #4 November 26, 2007 QuoteMy parts, Hamstring graft to be exact. You shouldnt have any worries then. As long as you stuck with the physical therapy and strenghtened it you should be in good shape. I have heard of long term weakness problems using a cadavers parts. rehmwa 2 #5 November 26, 2007 I've had the other two L knee - BTB patellar tendon graft (over 10 years) R knee - cadaver graft (last Nov) the R knee recovery was SO much easier so far so good on both - skiing, playing volleyball, running just fine ... jceman 1 #6 November 26, 2007 I had a self-graft (pateller tendon) done in 1985. It's still doing fine, it's the arthrits in all compatments that's giving me fits now. Hell, one of the fractures in my femur in 1998 was even with one of the staples for my ACL and it held! Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

Gene03 0 #9 November 26, 2007 I hope this has nothing to do with the punch recipes. “The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him. lawrocket 3 #10 November 26, 2007 Not really. It's really the possible damage to other parts that starts to wear. My knee is getting arthritic. My wife is hotter than your wife.
skyjumpsteve 0 #11 November 27, 2007 A very common occurence is getting tendinitis in the knee after ACL surgery. Mine was fine for 3 or 4 years until the pain came back...multiple rounds of PT have not cured it and there is nothing really the doc can do because the ACL itself is structurally sound. The Red Sox team doctor did the surgery so I know I got good care!
eeneR 3 #12 November 27, 2007 I am going to reply to everything here: My knees suck, nothing particular did it, well other then a fall into a river and smacking my knee into a rock nice and hard a while back. Thought it was healed, maybe not. This had nothing to do with punch, that will be this weekend, hopefully. I have had to deal with arthritis in that knee for about the same length of time, though I had my surgery back in 92'. This is not the same thing. Fingers crossed a little babying for a little longer now will make it better She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto
warpedskydiver 0 #13 November 27, 2007 if you have any further questions about surgery, or non surgical recovery times, feel free to contact me. I have had surgery five times total, on one knee. I let my MCL heal back onto the bone as it had taken a chunk with it when it ripped off.It healed fairly well and I only get 15 degrees of deflection in that direction

eeneR 3 #15 November 27, 2007 I have no questions on surgery itself, had that done on my knee many moons ago, I was curious if people had issues with break down say 14 years later. I dont think the repaired ACL is my problem, i think my knee just sucks! airathanas 0 #16 November 27, 2007 I had a cadaver replacement on my right knee and a patella tendon graft on my left knee (both ACL replacements). I'd say my right knee is better than my left. I take daily joint supplements, lift weights, and ice my knees after exercise. I also wear rollerblade knee pads when I jump. Still have problems sometimes but for the most part I'm doing well. But I can't run anymore.http://3ringnecklace.com/

As long as you stuck with the physical therapy and strenghtened it you should be in good shape. I have heard of long term weakness problems using a cadavers parts. I've heard the opposite. Your hamstring will never be as strong as using a cadavers tendon. I just had surgery and they told they use the achilles tendon which is several times stronger than any ACL. So by the time you are completely healed the graft should be as strong or stronger than your original ACL. I was told and have talked with others who've had the surger, using your hamstring just results in additional healing time and possible problems later on with your hamstring.
