"pluck your eyebrows" "shave your underarms" "shave your legs" "shave...." and now "shave your arms"?! And how many of today's women accept a man being a man? I have no issues with it. I like a man to look like a man and actually prefer a man that has some chest hair (love to play with it and LOVE the "treasure trail" ). If a man chooses to groom himself a certain way (as long as he's clean), no issues. Who a man is is more than his looks. Reality check...looks fade. That hot, young 20-something won't look the same at 40 or 60 or... And, if a man starts to tell me "You need to look like this/do this/etc." for me to be acceptable to him, he can kiss my lily white ass and then get the f*** out the door - which hopefully won't hit him on the ass on the way out.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.

He even has a hairy back and a little paunch. Do I care? Not a jot. He's confident, good looking with a great sense of humour. What more do I need? And I bet I'm not the only one. kbordson 8 #58 November 29, 2007 Quote And isn't it true that if you shave too much body hair off, you make it easier to get sick? Body hair is supposed to be one of the front-lines of defense against germs and disease... What's your stand on that, as a doctor? So... I went to pubmed. Search "hair removal infection" and that pulls up all the KNOWN studies that say that pre-operatively you should not shave the surgical site, but clipping the hair is ok. This is because we had found that shaving the site actually INCREASES post operative infection rates as it nicks the skin and in fact clipping does not decrease the infection rate from no hair removal Cochrane meta analysis As far as non surgical reasons, hair removal and infection - there were many studies on folliculitis, Psuedofolliculitis Barbae (ingrown hairs), Bullous impetigo, Outbreak of tinea corporis gladiatorum- a fungal skin infection due to Trichophyton tonsurans, complications of waxing . . . but I also found several medical "indications" for hair removal (dermatologic such as pilonidal sinus, and hormonal like PCOS and hirsuitism) Couldn't find any studies on long term infection/wellness and hair removal. Kinda amusing though, we assume that a person is healthy if he/she has a sleek, tanned body. . . but we know that sun is bad... will we learn in 10-15 yrs that hair removal is bad? and ps... my views on male hair removal - if he's a swimmer/bicycler/sports type, then I understand hair removal for speed/aerodynamics. but I would NEVER expect it to be removed for ME. (he doesn't need to be that fast)

popsjumper 2 #60 November 29, 2007 Funny how a simple statement on a physical attribute has been twisted into a slam on personality attributes. Women...strange creatures. How many of you would even look twice at an old, fat bald guy? 1 out of 1,000,000. And what's so wrong about having personal preferences? For the record, hairy women do not turn me on. And it's not your job to give a damn about what turns me on...nor why.My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. nerdgirl 0 #66 November 29, 2007 QuoteThis girl that sits next to me in my history class has as much arm hair as I do, its freakin gross. Why do some girls not shave their arms, its just weird lookin. There's seems to be a very easy way to deal with this on your own. If her existence and body hair so offends you - move to another seat. /Marg Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters. billvon 3,154 #71 November 29, 2007 >And men wonder why we have such poor body images. It's because >many hold us to such high standards. Most of the best looking women I've seen have been 'unaltered.' I think it's partly just my taste and partly that a woman who goes to lengths to alter her appearance is a bit more fake (to me) than someone who doesn't - and I tend not to like fake people. A while back someone posted pictures of "before" and "after" - before women did their hair and put on makeup and whatnot and after. Ugly to beautiful I guess. It was supposed to make some sort of political point. I thought all the "after" pictures were hideous. Is that common with guys? Do most guys really think the "after" picture shows a better looking woman than the "before" picture? (I realize most guys probably think that, but it's depressing.)
