Iceburner 0 #1 December 3, 2007 So i was jumping at a dz, my uspa membership expired, and they said i could no longer jump there until i renewed...which i did, but i was wondering what the basis for this is?? If no answers get sent on here, i'll just ask the dzo next time i'm jumpin.

NWFlyer 2 #4 December 3, 2007 See page 3 of the Group Member Manual. Quote4. require temporary or regular individual USPA membership of— a. all licensed U.S. skydivers (a skydiver is considered a student until licensed) b. non-resident foreign nationals who do not have proof of membership in their national aeroclub. This particular "feature" of the Group Membership program is one of the many criticisms of the USPA - a group that purports to represent individual skydivers while simultaneously representing dropzones. It is, of course, in the interests of the USPA to have more members. One way to ensure more members is to require membership to jump at group member dropzones. That appears to be what the DZ was enforcing."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

That extract is not adhered to either, last time at Zhill they tried to make be take out USPA membership, i pointed out that passage, but they didnt think it applied to me. NWFlyer 2 #7 December 3, 2007 I've jumped at probably 20 different USPA group member DZs and the way that is enforced varies widely. At many, my USPA membership was checked the first time I jumped there and never again. At others, they log the expiration date and if I show up after that date, they request proof that I've renewed it. At still others, the membership itself is not ever checked."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
