A good friend or S.O. response

Recommended Posts

I understand you need and want to vent sometimes, but it can be very hard to just listen, not ask questions, and/or offer advice especially when we get the impression that we're not getting the full story, feel something may have been missed, misinterpreted, etc.

Also any time we're either saying nothing or just the agreement, disagreement, sympathy, confusion noises we're invariably asked if we're really listening. :S

When you discuss an issue/problem with a good friend or S.O. what kind of response do you prefer?

Depends on whether I want an opinion or am just venting. Women almost always give an opinion even when I just want to vent. I don't give a damn thing other than a beer and an ear unless they ask for my opinion.
Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.

Tells you what they think is clearly in the lead.

I wonder if this would differ if posted in the women's forum.
