Acorn hoarding

Recommended Posts

You know sometimes you happen to find a cache of acorns hoarded up in a hole in the ground or a knot in the tree? You automatically think "squirrel", right?

Imagine my surprise yesterday morning when I started moving my garbage container out to the street, and happened to look down where the container sat. yep, a cache of acorns... see first pic.

I left the acorns alone, but after the container had been emptied, I brought it back and set it down next to the pile of acorns, not back over it as before. Well this morning I took pic #2, you can't really see the acorns in the pic, but I saw them underneath the container in its new location. Damn how the hell does a squirrel squeeze into that tight crack?? :S

Also I forgot to mention that two nights ago I was getting ready for bed, turning out the lights in the kitchen and dining room, when I noticed something out in the front yard. Peering out the window, I made out what turned out to be FOUR deer (does) grazing in the yard! They eat acorns too right? I've seen them from time to time when I was lucky to catch them, but they're always around. :)
