WatchYourStep 0 #1 December 6, 2007 Well I just placed the order!!! My new Mac will be here in about a week!!! I'm super excited, this is my Mac. I do have a feeling that a 24" monitor will be much bigger than I anticipated. My current one is a 15". "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. WatchYourStep 0 #3 December 6, 2007 Well I really wanted a laptop (I've never had one) but after looking at the prices (plus I don't travel that much) I decided to get a desktop. I can get a better overall machine for a lot less money. I ordered the 24" with the 2.8 processor. 2 gigs of memory and a 500gb hard drive come standard. The only upgrades I did was a wireless keyboard and mouse. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. AUSkyguy 0 #4 December 6, 2007 Thats sweet man, I have a Macbook (2.16 GHz, 2 gigs Ram, 160 gig Hard drive) and I love it!-Chris Martin
TomAiello 26 #5 December 6, 2007 QuoteWell I really wanted a laptop... There are rumors around the internet that the Macbook Pro will get an update in January, and possibly that Apple will release an ultra-portable (something like the 12" G4 powerbook I'm still using, but smaller and modern). I think I'm waiting to see if that materializes, and what the specs and price point are. I really like the 24" iMac. Have you thought about wall mounting it? My other option is a 24" on an extendable wall mount with wireless keyboard and mouse. Get everything off my desk except when I'm using it, and keep the computer on the wall to act as an iTunes station with the remote when I'm not using it.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
WatchYourStep 0 #6 December 6, 2007 Yeah I have thought about wall mounting, but the darn thing is so slim I don't think I'll mind having it on my desk. We'll see, either way...I'M EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!! "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. Shepp 0 #7 December 6, 2007 You'll be happy with your choice, I'm sure! I'm a recent convert to 'the dark side' - first an iPod, then an iPhone, and now a full system. I can't wait for my new MacBook Pro (2.6 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 200 GB HDD) to get here!! Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward. Accidents don't just happen. WatchYourStep 0 #8 December 6, 2007 That's a lot of pennies for that set-up. I'm sure you'll love it though. I love mine and I don't even have it yet :) "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. Shepp 0 #9 December 6, 2007 Yeah, a LOT of pennies! I started using a Mac at work a while back, and I just don't understand why I was so anti-Mac in the past. Enjoy your new toy, too!
