AggieDave 6 #1 March 11, 2001 The weather in North Texas was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! So why am I so distrot? Well, since I don't have my own gear yet I have to rent gear and what rule does the DZ that I visited today have for their rental gear? NOT jumpable if the winds are over 18mph. They were 20-21 all damn day, so did I get to jump? NO. Is 20-21 jumpable? Absolutely. So after sitting around and watching other jumpers make jumps and have fun for a couple hours, I couldn't take it anymore and had to leave. It was nice to finally meet some more of the DZ.com crowd that were there today, though. After some discussion, we came to the conclusion that the skydiving community is much much smaller then you think. For instance a guy I jumped with a couple weeks ago had a letter published in Parachutist this month, etc. It is absolutely amazing. A friend I jump with had purchased his gear used from someone on the other side of the country and someone at the DZ today recognized it as the other guys and mentioned that he had almost bought it himself. This kind of stuff is pretty amazing to me, actually. Well, if there was ever a reason NOT to flame other people or DZs in public forums, this kind of stuff is. You never know when you will run into someone or who you'll be jumping with. It *is* a small world after all. AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u. jumpergirl 0 #2 March 12, 2001 Dave, I'm terribly sorry you didn't get to jump this weekend. You're right, the weather here in North Texas was wonderful. I made two jumps yesterday, and the winds were a little high, but very jumpable for me. Hopefully it will be better next weekend and you'll get to jump.Blue skies!! Grogs 0 #3 March 12, 2001 Sorry to hear you couldn't jump Dave. I know it stinks, but just remember - it's better to miss a weekend than to jump in winds that are too high, get hurt, and not be able to jump for several weeks/months. I had to learn this the hard way
Hausse 0 #4 December 8, 2007 The crazyiest thing that happend to me: I usually drive to Skydive Wissota in Wisconsin from Toledo, OH because it's awesome up there. At work someone told me that her cousin skydives and she gave him my e-mail address. He than mailed me and asked me where I jump so I told him and he goes: Oh are you the crazy kid from Switzerland the DZO and Jumpmaster from your DZ told me about a week ago at a boogie? So it turned out that he talked to my DZO and jump master a few days ago in Perris and they told him about me and out of a pure coincident he got my email. I thought that was pretty cool.Edit: Sorry I picked up this ancient thread there was a link and I didn't read the date.

AggieDave 6 #10 December 9, 2007 Ha, yeah! You know I actually had a D number before I had my own gear. Being a poor college student skydiver means you have to scrounge and jump gutter gear. On the upside I got to jump a LOT of different stuff. 18mph? I've been known to do downwinders in that now days although I prefer to keep them to 15mph-ish tops. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Goody_23 0 #14 December 9, 2007 Look at the bright side....today was beautiful in Nova Scotia Canada +2 unlimited ceiling and absolutely no wind. Perfect conditions... ...But wait with jumpers hanging around we find there is no pilots that want to fly. So we were all in the same boat with no jumping. Any pilots out there want to fly for us?? AggieDave 6 #15 December 9, 2007 Yeah, with the new forum software. The sign on dates started with the last major upgrade to the software. Before then I was just Dave and I've been here since the end of May 2000. I've been a looser for a bit over seven years now. Well, thats' not right, I've been a loser for much longer then that, I've just been a loser on DZ.com that long.Lindsey, thanks but I own gear now. Its the same container I bought over 5 years ago but it will have to do for now. Maybe someday I'll do something cool and get a nice sponsorship from someone, but until then this old Wings will have to do. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #18 December 10, 2007 He stood still so I could come to him. He also had a nice long lens.To everyone else who haven't been around for a few years: I can afford gear, I have gear, this thread is from when I had just started skydiving and was still in college. Although I do want to thank everyone for their PMs and e-mails. It really gave me a warm feeling in my heart to receive so much love from everybody. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
