guppie01 0 #26 December 11, 2007 Quote Quote Quote But i do wonder why being a compassionate human being seems to require a season for many many people Anyone who knows Gia knows that she is a compassionate person year round. For a lot of people, the holidays are rough and a little extra compassion is a nice thing. Gia, I would absoloutey give him a plate. But first I would ask him, "hey are you hungry? Do you like BBQ?" Might make him feel a little more human. I wasn't actually suggesting Gia isn't a compassuionate person but with poll options like "Yes, it's the Holidays " It annoys me that people use the "Holiday" reference to validate being compassionate to others. If her Text had stood on it's own (without the poll) I would have not seen any issue at all with it. As it stands i have no issue with Gia at all. Merely with the "BE NICE IT THE HOLIDAYS" thing hmmm http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3041857;#3041857 Pot Kettle, much???? g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" Shell666 0 #27 December 11, 2007 Quote Quote And you wonder why I don't like you..... g No i dontBut i do wonder why being a compassionate human being seems to require a season for many many people Does it matter why someone wants to do something nice for another person? As chaoskitty said ... "For a lot of people, the holidays are rough and a little extra compassion is a nice thing. " Isn't "giving" about actually "giving" and not looking at the reason why??? Does it really matter "why"? Maybe someone is more giving because it's cold out and the Christmas decorations and carols make them all warm and fuzzy. No matter the poll, Gia would have done this anyway. I have no doubt it wouldn't have mattered. It was just a question from her. Probably to validate her decision. Which didn't need validation anyway. She gave. No matter the reason. Or the season. Or what anyone else thinks. 'tis the season and all. Maybe we could all benefit from "giving" a little. Even it's only the benefit of the doubt. Merry Ho Ho everyone. 'Shell

I do stuff for different people all year round. My purpose there is to actually assist THE CHARITY because they tend to get very busy this time of year, not because "TIS THE SEASON" either way, did you feed the guy or not?You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! mamajumps 0 #31 December 11, 2007 I think its a great idea. I tend to have a big heart towards people who are down on their luck. But I have had negative encounters when trying to be helpful. I once bought a lady a pair of shoes becuase she was all over town in flip flops and walked with a limp. She was very nasty (attitude) towards me and said if I wanted to help her, just give her money. Had a simaler thing happen when I bought a McDonalds meal for a man. I don't mind helping them, but I wont give them money for alcohol.
JohnnyD 0 #32 December 11, 2007 Absolutely. I used to live in a very bad part of a large and warm city and I had a number of homeless guys around all the time. I would give them whatever leftovers I had and would grub up some mac and cheese when they were around - hot, cheap and filling. People always used to ask me why I was so nice to them. My answer - I'm one missed paycheck from joining them.
