Antithesis 0 #1 December 13, 2007 Haven't posted here in a while.. But I broke my foot in a non skydiving injury. The break is called Lis franc. Basically, I broke all the metatarsals (on the top of my foot) all the way accross. I wonder if anyone here has had to deal with anything like this and how their healing process and recovery went. I have 2 pins, 4 screws just over 2 inches long, and a "T" shaped plate with a bunch of tiny screws in it. My break was about 5 weeks ago and everything seems to be healing well.. I'm in the boot but I'm not supposed to put weight on it. I'd just like to relate to someone about this shit.. because I'm a really active person wont except a lifestyle change. Any foot breaks with pins and screws out there? I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky

LeatherNeck5931 0 #4 December 13, 2007 I wouldn't worry about it healing as long as ya do what the doc says and don't try to push it. I can't relate to a foot injury, but i have some rods and pins and shit in my neck and it took a while to heal, but I'm pretty much good as new now. Hope ya heal quick man. tigra 0 #6 December 13, 2007 I've had two ankle fractures (5 years apart) with plates and screws, and I opted to have all the hardware removed both times after the injury healed. I personally found that the metal restricted my motion and caused pain. I made a much more complete recovery once the metal was gone (pretty much 100% on one and close to 100% on the other.) I'm just putting that out there because that's a lot of metal in your foot which *might* cause you problems down the road. Obviusly, its way too early to remove any of it, but you might want to ask your doc if it CAN be removed at a later date. Some hardware is meant to be temporary and some is meant to be permanent unless it causes problems. Some doctors are reluctant to remove it and need convincing. And don't rush the weightbearing thing either. Try to be patient. I know that's easier said than done. Antithesis 0 #8 December 13, 2007 I'm getting the pins out after almost 7 weeks.. they are a pain as they actually bulge the skin. The screws are comming out too after a while but the plate will probably stay unless it gives me trouble. cheers I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky
