NWFlyer 2 #26 December 19, 2007 Quote We saw a guy at goodwill buying framed and matted pictures. Told us he threw away the pics and kept the rest for his own pics. I did that once. I got four really cool woodcut prints as a gift. Wasn't working at the time so I decided to frame them on the cheap ... got some cheesy art at Fred Meyer and ripped the "art" out ... was left with mats/frames that were the perfect size/shape for my prints. I think they were $7/each. Couple years later I got another set of the prints to give to a friend as a gift and paid to have them professionally framed/matted ... to the tune of $100+."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. BillyVance 35 #27 December 19, 2007 I'll tell you about the experience my parents and I had several years ago. I was already on my own in a separate city. My parents were undergoing a major home renovation - all new doors and windows, complete tear down and rebuild bathrooms, and a new driveway. Now some of the work fell across my parents' annual beach vacation, which was tearing out the old driveway and pouring in a new one. They had three cars and a boat on a trailer filling up the driveway, so they pulled the boat onto the front yard and parked two of the vehicles out on the street, which had a pretty good downhill grade (but that was never a problem). The thing was, the house sits at a "Y" intersection. However, there were never any complaints about parking their vehicles in front of the house. That is... until they were gone to the beach. The contractor showed up one day to work on the house and he noticed one of the vehicles, a big ass Dodge Ram van from the mid 70's, was missing from the road side near the "Y" intersection, but the other vehicle, further down the street on the other side of the driveway was still there. So, he called my dad and explained the situation. He then called me asking to go check it out. I drove up, get there, and yep the van's gone. I call the police, they show up, take a report and call it in... then the cop tells me the van is in the impound lot. I was like, what the fuck? Dad isn't gonna like this. Turns out that, in Dad's own words - "two old biddies not from the neighborhood took offense to the van parked by the roadside and just couldn't mind their own goddamn business." So yeah, once he got back home from vacation, had to pay the tow and impound fees. I mean where the fuck else could he put the vehicles while having the fucking driveway re-done? sharimcm 0 #31 December 19, 2007 Quote $1000 Car repair???...was it a crash? would insurance have paid?....If this was a mechanical repair, then I really need to open my own shop. I will admit that I'm alittle out of date on repair bills today. I have a full shop in my home garage and do all my own repair and I do some on the side for friends that are strapped for cash. Plus my friend owns the auto parts store and I only pay is cost for parts....I mean for $1000 I can repair an entire engine or completely gut and re-build a transmission with new parts for that and probly do it for less than that with rebuilt parts. All mechanical... Front rotors, front wheel bearing, radiator, radiator fan, thermostat, temp sensors for the radiator and computer, oil plug, oil change and labor. All this after having to buy new tires due to a blow out. JohnMitchell 16 #32 December 19, 2007 Quote That's the sound of me banging my head against the wall because I have to pay $245 to get my car out of the tow lot. Yes, it's entirely my fault. Sorry Krisanne, ouch! My trainee paid about the same in Tacoma last week when they towed his car. Took him 1 day just to find which lot it went to. he's going to take it to court. There's some fishy stuff about it.

There's some fishy stuff about it. I thought that was going to be the hard part (I just got brand new plates and couldn't remember my new plate number!). But I called the building management company, they gave me the towing company phone number, and they'd only brought in one black Passat so getting reunited was fairly straightforward. Except for the ass-raping. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J.
