nanook 1 #2 December 25, 2007 QuoteIs it a positive or a negative memory? The period of time while my Dad was stationed in Germany. Now that's a country to be in during the Holidays. Very beautiful._____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
monkycndo 0 #3 December 25, 2007 It was actually the day after Christmas. I spent the morning of the actual day with my family in SoCal. Then hopped on a plane and flew to Seattle. I arrived around 10pm, but my rental car would not be available until 3am on the 26th. So I slept while waiting in the airport. As soon as it showed up, grabbed it and drove to my brother's place in Canada. It was a nice little snowy drive. Here's where it got fun. Bro, Sis-in law and the niece and nephew didn't know I was coming. I had arranged it with my sister who was already there visiting. I show up at around 7am, wearing a Santa costume I borrowed from work. Sis would act asleep so they would get the door. I knock and can hear them slowly stirring inside to answer the door. Brother answers with wifey right behind. They just about jump out of their skin, then realize who it was. My 4 year old niece and 2 y/o nephew at first are startled, but then come running up to give "Santa" a hug. Out come the christmas presents for the kids. It was a wonderful day for family. That was 15 years ago. To this day, when I come to visit around the holidays, if one of their friends is there, the now teenage niece or nephew will tell the story of the year Santa stopped two days in a row at their house. We like to surprise each other, a lot. A few years back, I had planned with them to visit for christmas. A family friend would pick me up and drive me out the next day. Well, this time my sister would come along without them expecting. But we wanted to really surprise them, not just show up un announced. We had lots of plans, but went with something simple. We moved all the luggage/gifts to the back seat from the trunk, and sis crawled in. When I arrived, I asked the teenagers to help me unload. I popped the trunk and Sis pops out. Scared the bajeebers out of them. Now, whenever either of us go for a visit, they are almost expecting the other sibling to be hiding somewhere. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. skymama 37 #4 December 25, 2007 It's probably going to be this one. My daughter got fired from her retail job yesterday. She stood up to a woman who was verbally abusing her. I'm proud of her; for $7/hour, she doesn't have to take that. Then, this morning we got the call that my Mother-in-law was taken to the hospital for chest pains. Christmas is on hold with his family today. We're just hanging around until we're told we can go to the hospital to see her. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
