gonzalesna 1 #1 December 29, 2007 Had the check engine light come on today, and the transmission's now having a hard time deciding if it wants to upshift or not. Any help from you gearheads would be greatly appreciated. 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab SLT 2WD 5.9L 360 Fault code comes up as P0720 and it's listed as "Output shaft speed doesn't match reported vehicle speed." I'm thinking it's a sensor and not the transmission on it's dying breath. I hope that's the case, so it doesn't put a damper in my DZ tour. For those of you who want to know, you can check fault codes by turning the key to the on position 3 times. (Do not go to the start position, just on, off, on, off, on.) I've been told you can clear by doing it 5 times, but that's yet to be determined. Dodge is the only one I know of, but this might work for other vehicles. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. mnealtx 0 #2 December 29, 2007 Definitely sounds like a sensor error - could be either the tranny sensor or the differential sensor. Is it throwing any other codes?Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706

No other codes, just P 0720 I was thinking it was a sensor as well, but due to Murphy's Law, I left my tech manual in orange county over Christmas at my grandparents' place and won't be back down there to get it until the 2nd of January when I go to a Ducks game. It figures that something would break when I don't have it with me. (Note to self: don't ever forget tech manual again.)Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. mnealtx 0 #8 December 29, 2007 Gonzo - it's a sensor on the tranny - unsure of price, but it's evidently fairly easy to replace. Linky-love Picture Autozone appears to have the part (I believe it's part SU1034 at Autozone, but check with Dodge!!) for $17Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim.
