It would be fun, but I would settle for being able to convince 100 of my students that pi is not 3.14 I'd probably give it a try anyway, but I'm teaching Calc II this quarter for the first tiem since grad school, so I think I'll have my hands (and head) full. Differentials have nothing to do with gears. That's as far as I got. A nice size pi is about 8-10 inches in diameter...cherry will do nicely. My reality and yours are quite different.
