NWFlyer 2 #1 January 2, 2008 [Pausing for a moment so my boyfriend can get annoyed with me when he gets back from Eloy and says "why didn't you ask me first instead of the numnuts in Bonfire?"] Anyway... the carpet on one stair has been loose for a while (tacked down, but it came out) and while it was just me it was no big deal to just shove it back from time to time and think "Yeah, I gotta fix that at some point." But now, that particular bit of carpet (and the pad underneath) has become one of my cat's favorite scratching areas, and I'll often find the carpet and pad laid out on the landing ... not good if I'm rushing down the stairs and not paying attention. "Some point" has come. Is this the kind of thing I can fix myself or do I need to get a professional in to fix it? If it is a DIY job, what's it take?"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

jimmytavino 16 #3 January 2, 2008 heavy duty Arrow brand stapler 5/8th inch t -50 staples... takes a good squeeze to trigger , but sets the staple pretty well... if you're attaching to a riser, ( the vertical part of the stairs) it will be easier than attaching to the tread ( the flat part ).. since the tread could be hard wood,, oak etc .. and the risers could be pine... put good pressure on the stapler tool and squeeze off a few.....keep a hammer handy , to fully seat the staple, if necessary... good luck j t

BillyVance 35 #6 January 2, 2008 what Jimmy said. Good strong stapler. I used one to help build a cat scratching log covered with old carpet. This exact scenario changed my life forever...and not in a good way. Nuff said. _________________________________________ Chris
