masterrig 1 #1 January 3, 2008 Just saw on 'Inside Edition', a skydiver bail-out, deploy a bagged square main he was holding in front of him. He got alongsode the balloon and caught the warm up-draft. He then landed on the balloon. He chopped the first main. slid off the balloon and deployed his other main. The whole thing was pretty cool! Other Chuck Hell, that was done originally in the mid 80s and I think was shown on an old tv show called "That's Amazing". Seems like B.J. Worth was involved in it or maybe even did the jump himself. Ain't nothing new under the sun.The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

Chuck EASY! I almost did that this weekend at EloyWe separated/broke off I opened and had a slow left turn (not fully inflated cells) I see a balloon about 1000ft below me.I only did one jump at ELoy this year. it was an 8way ff (7-way girl jump that I filmed) I tracked on my back until about 4k. fliped over and deployed. I didnt even see the balloon until I was opened. I was a shitty feeling.Sure, it was probably at 1500ft and drifting off to the desert but if the winds had been less it may have been directly below us. I didnt even think about balloons since I didnt think it was that late in the day.My photos My Videos

masterrig 1 #12 January 4, 2008 I've been face to face with a sailplane, under canopy! Scared the crap out of me. Luckily, the pilot and I saw each other at the same time. I thought I was going to have to clean my drawers! Chuck

BillyVance 35 #17 January 4, 2008 I think I remember reading about someone getting kicked out of the convention for landing on a hot air balloon and then jumping off it. Don't remember the year or the details though."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

masterrig 1 #20 January 4, 2008 The video of the jump was pretty cool. The jumper missed the balloon and you could see him steer toward it so as to catch lift. It worked! Unfortunately, the program presenting the story was vague as to where, who, etc.. The video told the story. At one point, the camera was looking up from the gondola and one could see the jumper getting rid of his first canopy. Chuck

masterrig 1 #22 January 4, 2008 I just happened to catch the story from the start. As I mentioned, the program is, 'First Edition'. It's one of those dumb shows where they tell the latest on Britney, Lohan and the usual suspects. There was no mention of place, person,,, nuttin' honey! The way he caught the lift from the balloon was really cool. Popped right up and eased over on top of the balloon. It appeared as though, the people in the balloon wer well aware of what was going on. Maybe, the other ballooners didn't like it... dunno.
