shortyj 0 #1 January 3, 2008 Just wondering. I think most skydivers are either first borns or babies. Traits First born- perfectionist, reliable, conscientious, list maker, well organized, hard driving, natural leader, critical, serious, scholarly, logical, dosen't like surpries, love computers. Middle- mediator, compromising, diplomatic, avoids conflict, independent, loyal to peers, many friends, a maverick, secretive, unspoiled Baby- manipulative, charming, blames others, attention seeker, tenacious, people person, natrual sales person, precocious, engaging, affectionate, loves surprises. Only- little adult by age 7, very through, deliberate, high achiever, self-motivated, fearful, cautious, voracious reader, black and white thinker, uses "very" "extremely" "exactly" a lot, can't bear to fail, has high expectations for self, more comfortable with people who are older or younger. I got this from the birth order book. Very interesting. I am a first but I have the traits of a middle child. So what do you think most TI are? RW? Freeflyers? Photographers and camera?Playtime is essential.
mamajumps 0 #2 January 3, 2008 I am an only child for my mom, but am the third and baby for my dad. However, I was raised as an only child until 15, when my parents divorced and then I gained a baby brother and sister. I have a lot of the "only" traits and alot of the "first born" traits... I prefer RW, and have 5 yr goals to fly video and be an AFF/I....

DSE 5 #4 January 3, 2008 If my family dynamic is relevant at all to the book, it's pretty messed up. Reverse second and first child, put third child as "only child." My siblings and I are each 5 years apart.
shortyj 0 #5 January 3, 2008 yes people can be different like you said if you are 5 yrs apart or have split families, things like that.Playtime is essential.
grannyinthesky 0 #6 January 3, 2008 I'm a first born too, but I don't necessarily fit any category really well. My two brothers and I were each 4 years apart. Amazon 7 #9 January 3, 2008 I was an only.. till I got 4 step-brothers at the age of 10. I was still the oldest. They could do not wrong and I could do no right from that time on. Today.... 2 of them are dead the middles.. both from stupidity with alcohol and drugs. One is a massive tool and dead beat dad who worked under the table to avoid any kind of child support after he got out of the NAVY The baby is still a self absorbed "artist" who has never had a real job despite all the "education" our pqarents paid for. livendive 8 #11 January 3, 2008 While I was technically a first-born, my brother died shortly after birth when I was 6 and my step-siblings didn't come into the picture till I was 14 or 15, so I guess I'm kind of an only child. Icon134 0 #15 January 3, 2008 I'm the middle (2nd of 4, and the younger brother with two younger sisters) I think that in some ways I do fit the typical middle child... but in other ways I don't... My elder brother does not fit the stereotypical first born whereas my younger sister (3rd of 4) is more typical first born.... then my youngest sister is more typical baby... my sibling organization might be somewhat driven by the fact that the first three children were born 1.5 years apart... then my little sister was born 7 years after the youngest of those three... although I do have a minor grasp of the psychology of birth order there are a lot of factors that affect the psycology of the family... for example my mother was the eldest in her family and my father is the youngest in his family which is bound to affect how the kids are raised...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... Sweet! I'm manipulative, but in a charming way. I'm the baby of the family, but since I only have one sibling (older sister), the middle man or only categories don't apply to me. pirana 0 #18 January 3, 2008 I am 2 of 6. Very much in line with the 1st born traits you list though. Being the oldest of 4 boys, with a sister only 18 months older, I took over the alpha child role quite early. We had an interesting dynamic too. My mom had 2 batches of kids. 3 close together, then a 12 year gap, then 3 more close together. Leaving home at 17, I barely knew the 2 youngest ones until they were close to being teenagers." . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

Muenkel 0 #22 January 3, 2008 I'm #6 out of 8. I fit the middle description somewhat, but not exactly. The eldest, a sister fits the the first-born exactly.
