Sleeping At Work

Recommended Posts

So when I first started working the midnight shift I would bring a cot and pillow in and try to sleep. (We're allowed to sleep so long as nothing is going on and I wake up if the phone rings or something like that.) Well, when I did that it seems like I would always be busy with emergencies and stupid hospital to hospital transports. Well, for the last 2 weeks I haven't bothered with the cot and just stayed awake the entire shift. Wouldn't you know it, but during the night shifts I've worked and didn't bother trying to sleep, I haven't gotten a single call!!!! No emergencies or other transports. Ok...rant over. In case you couldn't tell I'm really really bored and tired right now. :P:P

A blow-up mattress works well. Just keep it there and put it away when working.

Of course, that would probably ellicit offers from your co-workers but hey! rental fees could be a good thing.
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Isn't Murphy's Law great? I can see how that would be frustrating. As soon as I graduate, I will be working 24 on 48 off and have already heard there are some shifts where I will not sleep and barely have a chance to eat. As crazy as it sounds tho, Im looking forward too it!
