SSGJOHNSON 0 #1 April 11, 2006 A friend of mine just gave me a Cruise lite 220 with a vector container and a swift reserve. He told me he only has 250 jumps tops on the main and 0 on the reserve. The main looks like its new as well as the reserve. I told him I wouldn't take it for free and would give him something for it what do you guys think is a good deal. Also I will have the rigger look it over before I even think about jumping this dinosaur. I know ill go to heaven because ive spent my time in Hell. Miami 0 #2 April 11, 2006 Is it a 5 cell swift or a swift plus? Has the bruise lite been treated with anything to lower porosity? What's the DOM of the container? That setup sounds nearly exactly like my first rig.Miami
Tonto 1 #3 April 11, 2006 I stopped jumping this combo in 1988 cos there was better stuff on the market - and I'm in Africa. Buy your friend a beer. tIt's the year of the Pig.
riggerrob 643 #4 April 11, 2006 I used to jump a Cruislite 220 - back when I weighed 170 pounds. It worked fine back then, but better canopies are available now. A Crusilite with only 250 jumps will still almost like new. As for the Swift reserve ... is it an original 5-cell Swift (serial number starting with R3-####) or a 7-cell Swift Plus (serial number starting with R6-####)? fcajump 164 #5 April 11, 2006 I still jump two different Cruiselite XL's... but the discussion of those would better be discussed under the title of "what I use for intentional cut-aways"... councilman24 37 #6 April 11, 2006 If you want to give him something I'd give him salvage value. Just about any parachute with lines on it will bring $100 to $150 on ebay. One 5 cell swift went for $160 at an real skydiver auction at quincy a few years ago. I have one I'd be glad to sell for $160 but I wouldn't pack it. Actually, I probably wouldn't sell it. It's part of my museum. Original Vector with lots of veclro? In very good condition $150. So doesn't add up to much but this is at best a third rig or a water jump rig. Probably as airworthy as ever but far out distance by two or three generations of gear. BTW probably not Free Fly Friendly. Don't even think about trying it unless an experienced rigger tells you it's okay. I say experienced rigger because a new rigger may not know every thing that can go wrong with older designs. Buy him a case.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Better yet, an experienced freeflyer who is an experienced rigger. If it's a Vector II sized for those canopies... it is definately not freefly friendly. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... justinb138 0 #10 April 11, 2006 That reserve is older than I am! You may have trouble finding a rigger that will pack a 25 year old reserve.
ZigZagMarquis 9 #11 April 12, 2006 QuoteThat reserve is older than I am! Damn kids!!! I was in High School in 1981! Anyway... I'll certainly defend older gear that still airworhthy... but a Bruise-Lite with a possible 5 Cell Swift... ummm... I think I'd give the guy a case of really good beer for it and then hang it up at the DZ as a conversation piece...
