Elisha 1 #1 January 15, 2008 Does anyone have experience filing for unemployment in California? Over the past several months I have lost my job twice! The first was back in August when the Mortgage company I worked for died. The second is recently, when this small renewable energy resources company I was working for realized they created a position before they had work for it. Anyways, here is a bit of trickiness to this regarding timelines. My last day on the job for the energy company was 1/3/08. I have a 2+ month contract setup to start on 1/28, but would like to collect for the time in between (I interviewed and got the contract last week). I got a bunch of paperwork from EDD with an "interview" date of 1/22. So, this seems a little awkward in that I have a "temporary" job starting less than a week after the interview. I'm curious as to what I do. My guess is: 1) register at Caljobs 2) fill out first weekly claim form 3) answer the EDD interviewer's questions when (s)he calls on 1/22. Does this sound like it? I guess I would only be collecting for three weeks at the most.
shermanator 4 #2 January 16, 2008 yup, you got it. I had horrible experience, after i recieved about 3200 in payments, my previous employer appealed the cliam, *after they already had their chance to do it* . . long story short, I didn't show up to court, and now am mayking payments to EDD to give them the "overpayment" back. I believe I can't collect on it again until that is paid in full.CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #

Maybe so, but when you failed to show up in court, you abandoned that defense.
