Jumpervint 0 #26 March 13, 2007 Actually, that is exactly what I got her. Her brother has one, and she got GPS envy. She's been using a Garmin Etrex Summit for years, and when she saw the color screen and map capabilities of the 60CSx, it was love at first sight. She still hasn't figured out all the bells and whistles and is really enjoying it. Good screen in bright sunlight. It helped that there was a $50 rebate on it. Vint. . . . . "Make it hard again." LouDiamond 1 #27 March 14, 2007 If you really want to make geocaching fun do it with out a GPSr and just use a map, a compass and a good pace count. It offers a bit more challenge than just following a screen around the woods."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
PLFXpert 0 #28 June 19, 2007 *Bump* Just read an article about this and thought it would be a super-fun and low-cost (after initial purchase of GPS & possibly gas money) idea for parents to do with their kids. I'd never heard of this before! I'm happy to hear something like this exists. What a great idea & excellent use of newer technology! Now I'm curious who started geocaching.com. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
virgin-burner 1 #29 June 19, 2007 the inventor of the game gave his rights to others that now run geocaching.com. in its earlier days it was called "GPS stash hunt".. history can be found here: http://www.geocaching.com/about/history.aspx“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. CSpenceFLY 1 #31 June 19, 2007 I'm still caching. I enjoy the hikes and getting out into new areas. I will usually download a 10 to 20 mile radius before we go camping. That gives us plenty to do.
jtval 0 #32 January 15, 2008 BUMP (again) I just heard of this. (only got my GPS recently) the very odd thing is I've been taking my dog on a 3 mile hike around my house for a year now and I see there are a lot of caches that I walked passed a bunch of times. Gonna go check it out.My photos My Videos

CSpenceFLY 1 #34 January 15, 2008 I'm still caching a little. I found I got bored with most of the urban type caches because people are just not creative in there hides. I like caches that are well built and can be hidden kind of in the open or that have a hike attached to them. Find out what you like and ignore the rest. virgin-burner 1 #35 January 15, 2008 there are some outstanding ones.. some, you need to hike for days to get there! there's a cache in norway i believe, there's a nice wade of cash in there. i dont know how many times it got logged, but people were so thankful for it, that they just added more cash! but you also get your wal-mart-parking-lot-ones.. not fun! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. JJBinks 0 #38 January 16, 2008 Geocaching led me to a black garbage filled with I don't want to know what in an old cemetary in the desert.

jtval 0 #42 January 17, 2008 Well if one tries the "cache in trash out" it's not. I wish more people would enjoy nature...then clean up after themselves. My photos My Videos
CSpenceFLY 1 #43 January 17, 2008 I'm not sure why you would make that statement but it is not true for everyone. All of my caches are in good order and in areas that are not sensitive to the traffic they produce. Everytime I go caching I pickup trash along the way. The other day I was looking for a cache in a National Forest and ended up carrying out as much trash as I could carry. I forgot the trash bag I usually take with me. If your arguement is that it is bad for the enviroment, that can be said for almost any activity by over zellous enviromentalist. Take skydiving for instance.
