galvar2439 0 #1 January 20, 2008 OK, I had all these plans to jump all over down south this winter. I made it to Skydive Dallas on December 8th and got one hop and pop because of the weather. Now work has kept me from jumping. Its great that i have work, don't get me wrong, i am happy to have work and i travel all over the world but i cant stop thinking of my next jump. All my travels so far this winter have taken me to Eastern Europe where it is cold. I cant even seeem to get to the rock climbing with my home DZ pals. AAHHHHHHHHH, how does everyone else handle this.So i just broke up with this woman who wasn't even my girlfriend! Hellfish #782, POPS #10664

galvar2439 0 #3 January 20, 2008 That was funny! but i am not crazy enough to get married again. (Divorced twice) We were standing on the on the observation deck of the old world headquarters for GM in Downtown Detroit, I was looking over the side thinking about skydiving and all my employees and the engineers were looking at me like i had just lost my mind!So i just broke up with this woman who wasn't even my girlfriend! cocheese 0 #4 January 20, 2008 I know people who have base jumped that building. They were looking at you like you lost your mind becuse it's freakin deadly cold out there.
galvar2439 0 #5 January 20, 2008 Yeah it was cold but we are used to it. It is a whopping 6f today. Now thats impressive to jump off there, not much room between buildings and almost no where to land. Takes big, major leauge balls for that. I sir, am impressed by those who have jumped from there. So i just broke up with this woman who wasn't even my girlfriend! AAHHHHHHHHH, how does everyone else handle this. Boy, have I ever been in your shoes. This summer I lived in Wichita, just about 6 hours north of Skydive Dallas. I loved to go down there, and we had about 5 students who wanted to head down there for a week and fast-track their license from Dallas's Otter and Caravan. I called the Head Instructor, and got the Okay to work with our students, with our student rigs down there. 4 Separate weekends We had to Cancel Because of Weather. Welcome to the Midwest. =========Shaun ==========
galvar2439 0 #9 January 20, 2008 Yeah The folks there are great. Ernie got me hooked up at the Dusty Saddle so i could at least get a beer at the end of the long waits. They take following all the rules to an extreme, which i guess is good. Someone told me they do that because the owner is on the board for the USPA. But it is a great facility and i'll go back there someday. Until i get better at flying my canopy i liked that you could land just about anywhere there. Its like my last girlfriend, FLAT!So i just broke up with this woman who wasn't even my girlfriend! Hellfish #782, POPS #10664

lippy 918 #11 January 20, 2008 I feel your pain dude. I'm stuck in a shitty oilfield town with nothing to do but work and drink. Hopefully I'll be hitting Florida in two weeks for some jumping though I got nuthin
Unstable 9 #12 January 20, 2008 Here in Kansas, the rhetoric among the DZO is "You can never have a Turbine in Kansas., or "Kansas Dropzones can't afford to accommodate both Tandems and upjumpers." and I think the SDD is proof that this isn't necessarily so. The weather in both places is just as unpredictable, and between all the major cities in the area (Kansas City, Wichita, Topeka) we have a good enough population base.... Skydive Dallas helps me think big... =========Shaun ==========

Iceburner 0 #16 January 20, 2008 i just got back from skydive dallas, had a blast there, and it's worth the 3 hour drive from OK....although i thought TX would be a lil warmer than it was, it still beats a WI jump in Jan.

Hausse 0 #18 January 21, 2008 I drove on the 12/20 to my DZ (just about 12h away) and stayed there until the 1/7 just to make a whooping TWO jumps in the whole time!!! Both of them were below 0°F ground temp. I might have made the mistake going to Wisconsin instead of Texas thoughAwesome parties so it was worth it. Wissota rocks. grannyinthesky 0 #19 January 21, 2008 Quotebut i cant stop thinking of my next jump. I sure understand this sentiment. I'm not traveling the world like you, but weather and other things have sure interfered with my plans to jump. I constantly find my mind drifting off into the clouds and wishing I was in the sky. I haven't jumped for two weeks, and the only day in the next week I can jump is next Sunday weather permitting. I guess we just need to have patience. People keep reminding me that summer will be here soon and then we should be able to jump to our heart's content."safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! Hausse 0 #22 January 21, 2008 QuoteMan that must cause some real "shrinkage" in that weather, then factor in the wind chill. I actually didn't think it was bad. A lot of clothes and you don't feel any colder than in fall.
airathanas 0 #23 January 21, 2008 What's worse- not being able to jump because of bad weather OR not being able to jump because you're working and the weather is jumpable? I guess both are bad because you can't jump in either situation. That answers that.http://3ringnecklace.com/
