lauraliscious 0 #27 January 17, 2008 Quote Quote Tonight I saw a commercial for one coming up called "Moment of Truth" or some such. It looks like reality tv has sunk to new depths. They hook people up to lie detectors with family right there and ask questions like, "Do you think you'll still be married in 5 years?" or "Would you cheat if you knew for sure you'd never get caught?" It's just really sad. Sad? Are you kidding me?!!!!! You can *bet* that I'm gonna catch an episode or two of that show!Walt If people are so desperate for their 15 minutes of fame to subject themselves to that, then you can't really feel sorry for them. I mean, they'd have to know what they're getting into, right?! kschilk 0 #28 January 17, 2008 Quote Quote I'm addicted to the history channel. It's all I watch. I too think TV's going to shit, because even the History channel is getting trashier and trashier each week. Screw good shows and documentaries on History and mankind's progression, all they show these days is stuff on UFO's and monsters in peoples backyards. I concur. The History channel is starting to look like Discovery channel 2. Well, c'mon.....get out there and make some history, maybe they'll air it! "T'was ever thus." I mean, they'd have to know what they're getting into, right?! Yep. In a phone interview yesterday I was asked one of the typical ridiculous/awkward questions that many HR people ask: "What are your weaknesses; areas where you feel you need to improve?" My response began with, "I can't think of any". I continued with noting some of the television shows I like to watch. Things like Intervention, reality shows, game shows, and even American Idol. No doubt I should have mentioned Cheaters too, but I didn't think of it at the time. "Compared to the people on those shows," I told her, "I am awesome". Then I asked her if she had ever seen "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous". She had. I told her I made a point to *never* watch shows like that because they make me feel like a loser. I have no clue whether my response to that question was *effective*, i.e., furthered my chances of get hired, but it definitely got some laughs from her and if hadn't seen the humor in it I would have been quite sure that I didn't want to work there anyway. chaoskitty 0 #31 January 17, 2008 Spence, you need to get TiVo. So you can watch all your favorite shows when YOU want to, and when theres nothing but crap on TV. I've programmed keywords in to catch all shows that involve Skydiving or BASE jumping. And programmed it to record all shows about travel and Paris. Plus all the shows I like to watch regularly but don't catch. Its pretty coo.

They spent an entire hour discussing these long cylindrical UFO's that moved too fast to be seen by the naked eye, but were caught in a few frames of video footage. Its called lens flare dumbass!!! They spent an hour on something that baseless. Ratings for credibility, fair trade I guess.
sartre 0 #35 January 17, 2008 Let me clarify. It's really sad that people think watching others squirm and relationships get destroyed is fun. There's always the option of turning the tv off and doing something else. If people didn't feed the ratings, these types of shows would go away.

tigra 0 #37 January 17, 2008 I think my new favorite comedy is Rock of Love ..... that's supposed to be a comedy, right? I didn't pay much attention last season, but the first episode this season had me laughing my ass off! And I found the first episode of Celebrity Rehab to be oddly compelling- The Surreal Life meets 28 Days ...... If Jeff Conway wasn't so completely pathetic and f'ed up, it would almost be funny as well ..............

That said... ok, I am a perv. I admit it. I am the only person on the internet that watches porn. However, I thought that they could do a "travel and Paris" show on the Travel Channel though. Her naughty bits have become something like the Hawaiian beaches. We've all seen the beaches in Hawaii, some pics, some video. The sand looks soft, but we'll never get to lay on it. Just another interesting place that I'll never visit because I can't afford it, so I look at it on tv. You may be onto an idea here.
Lastchance 0 #40 January 17, 2008 I agree. Cheaters is ONE of the stupidist shows on TV. Actually most TV sucks. Except for TLC, History Channel and PBS. I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

Broke 0 #43 January 17, 2008 QuoteThe show that I hate a lot ? Cheaters It is like Jerry Springer and Dr Phil. The main guy always starts with, "Now... I don't want to show you this... because I know it hurts... and I am sooo concerned about your pain (and my ratings)..." They come up with some guy and then give him a free shot on the other guy before the "licensed investigators" (bouncers) separate them. The show is a parasite that feeds on human misery.
