So how is your life?

Hey...I'm a sensitive kinda guy! ;)

We stayed just up the hill from the house where the movie was filmed, which is a mile or so where the 'actual' house the author wrote about and lives is...the actual house is MUCH nicer! B|

:ph34r: Yeah, SURE you're sensitive! Alan Alda in the making.

You had to get big points for taking a trip like that, though. What is it you wanted, exactly? It has to be pretty big to merit a trip like this one!

Look at it this way. You may not be content at the moment, but neither do you have an unexamined life. You will get it figured out, but it's okay to be uncertain and to challenge what you think you know in the meantime. Some things are simple; others are harder. Even the down days will lead you forward--just don't give up the quest!

Right now, better than last year. Like usual, I had some very big downs in 2007 and very few ups. Dropped out of college. Left home. But now things are going up again, steadily but surely. I truly hope it stays that way. I'm hoping that when I start jumping again in March that the ups will become more frequent :)

Hope you're feeling good!

I'd say you deserve the ups in your life, seeing as how you used to have to HUNT your food and managed to survive the plague.

My life is excellent.

When a group of small threads are wrapped together nicely, they produce a rope that has a lot of strength.

There are thread that pull you forward to you happiness and threads that pull you back.

In the last few years, I have worked on identifying each type instead of waiting on the compounded effect.

I don't wait for little problems to be come big ones.
I eliminate them immediately.

For the good stuff, I try to repeat it as much as possible.

That works. I repeated the good stuff from 2006 in 2007. I eliminated some bad stuff like the bug zapper of life.

I spent most of 2007 playing and laughing. I have a group of people who assist me in this pursuit.

I like to think of the 20 best events of my life.
Then, I like to replace two events with stuff from the current year. My life improves that way.

My life sucks....it's snowing & it's cold & i want to be jumping in nice weather and having beers at night

Yep, I sure know that feeling. I got out of the snow for a weekend (I'm in Miami Beach) but without my A license, I can't jump. It's also a little too breezy here for my license.

'07 started good but then went downhill. Seemed like every time I thought I was at the bottom, things got worse. I went up a little hill in November but that crashed again before the holidays. By the end of the year things were at least leveling out.

I learned that I need to trust my instincts more and sometimes bail on things earlier. However through the hardships though I've made some new friends.

2008 is a rebuilding year for me. Looking at my life and deciding what is and isn't worth hanging onto. :)

The biggest loss though was my friend and mentor, tonto, i still think of him and miss him every day.

2008 i hope brings as much success, less pain, both emotional and physical but i think it's gonna be a good one. I'm the eternal optimist, so yeah, my life rocks.

Peej, You and I have a lot in common. In '07 I too lost my best friend and dealt with a lot of physical pain.

I am also an optimist about '08. I think this is going to be a better year for me. I hope the same for you.

If you want to talk, feel free to pm me.:)

I started skydiving in 2007 and simultaneously left a career that had gotten to the point where the negatives outweighed the positives, and I was just collecting a paycheck. I stepped into an unknown future, which is something that I had never done in my life. With a wife and 4 year-old daughter, it scared the crap out of me. I got lucky and found that my new career was something that I had been doing for years for fun. My relationships at home were in a pretty bad state due to me putting so much of my focus on my previous career. I just didn't have time to fix them back then.

Am I better off today? In three months I surpassed what I was earning after 9 years in my former profession. I get to solve complex problems daily. I have the opportunity to learn constantly. I am actively encouraged to pursue a path to advancement. I have a positive effect on the experiences of millions of people every day globally. I can go home at 5:00 PM. I am going to have the opportunity to live a life that a public school teacher only has when they are born into money or marry wealthy. I can focus on my family, on my interests, and on myself. So, am I better off today? Yes. How's my life? It is getting better, but there are no guarantees.
