So how is your life?

Recommended Posts

Well, yes, there is the fact that I have been a walking germ factory for much of '08. But that shit goes away. I like the general direction things are headed.

I thought all was going good with 2008 until I started having knee problems again yesterday. I have to see my ortho on Monday. I was told that I would know if the last surgery would work or not in 3-6 month. It hasn't been 3 months yet and it hurt more now than before...[:/]

2007 was an interesting year for me. I started a new job and through it remembered how much fun i can have doing my job and why i chose my career path in the first place.

I met and dated some really cool people, one i am currently still seeing and am hoping that this goes somewhere. I also spent some time in hospital and trapped in my apartment thanks to a skydiving accident, the consequences of which i'm still dealing with now. Through it though i learned what a big part i play in the community at my home DZ and really felt loved with all the well wishes that were shown to me.

The biggest loss though was my friend and mentor, tonto, i still think of him and miss him every day.

2008 i hope brings as much success, less pain, both emotional and physical but i think it's gonna be a good one. I'm the eternal optimist, so yeah, my life rocks.

- I bought a Land Rover :S Why, oh why!!! *beating self on the head*
- the girl that I really thought was THE 1 decided to try a new life... without me :(
- tonto died :(:(
- I started jumping again:):D

2008 - as soon as the new version of my site is up & running, I might actually earn some money again :)- moved into a new place :)- taken up cycling again:)- Its a new year full of new opportunities!!!!! :D:)

I didn't like that quiz either.

I scored highest in mind and body (despite the surgery and now recovery period...) oh, and finance.... but that shouldn't weigh too heavy.

Other sections were pulled down cuz of how they asked some of the questions and how they included all family and friends in that one category.... just cuz my Dad wasn't the best father in my chindhood, doesn't mean that I don't have some kick ass supports currently.

I just know that I started the year out on the right foot :D:D:D and I plan to continue trying to be more happy and healthy B|

Well, that quiz was interesting on what was ranked high and low. I'm still better than average, supposedly.

It's funny that you started this thread. Yesterday on my flight down to Atlanta I spent the entire time thinking about this exact subject. (Mostly because my overhead light didn't work so I couldn't read.) I thought of all the ways I want to change my life for the better. And I decided that I don't care what I have to do I'm going to skyfest this year. I have yet to go to a boogie. I always find some reason why I can't go. Be it money or taking the time off work. But I don't care what I ahve to do, I'm going to skyfest this year. ;)

Right now DAMN good! Been a rough couple of years but 2007 ended with me grinning bigger then I have in years, and 2008 has started down that same path! B| This seems to be the beginning of an upturn and I could not be happier.

This is great! Make sure you come and find me. Its only money right? Besides: Be rude not to! LOL

It is great to see folks evaluating the good that can happen and I believe will with the right attitude.

Granny- that is what I love about skydiving, how it can build confidence and the ability to overcome.

BTW where is Happythoughts, he has to have something to say in here...

Its goooood!

Mine, well things really sucked in 2007, but I kept a smile on my face...still recovering from the aftermath but I believe things will improve. Have a lot to be excited about this year, working hard at the new business and extremely excited about SkyFest 2008! Of course that SF energy comes from all of you, so thank you.

As much as I have moved on, certain things come up that still affect my life beyond my control. I grunt once then find a way to smile again. Thus making me stronger and wiser. Looking forward to tomorrow and the exciting challenges that may face me.

I need to jump more (yes i can hear Lee now: Skrimmy get your ASS in the air) but that will come in time.

Life gets in Life's way., and thats ok, cause skydiving has taught me to handle the risk and look forward to the next "jump" of life.:S:S:S

Hope you all can find that bit of shimmering light that lets your wings fly again.

Ok, off to get myself in trouble now. Shhh dont tell sunshine that I might be misbehaving...

Thanks for listening, uuuhh reading, ahh whatever:)

Life is ok . . . BUT it would be a LOT better if we were allowed to to do stuff more months in advance than we are - I mean - we need to get our priorities sorted out!

Waaa, waaaa, cry me a river. :P

If you're talking about Skyfest, you can still make arrangements, you can send pm's, you can still read the thread. J can post his official thread in 17 more days. Do those days really make that much of a difference?

To be honest, YES. In reading some of the response several people have stated that employers are now requiring six months or more notice for vacation time request. This is becoming more common in the corporate world. By limiting the time you are limiting some people’s ability to attend.
Time and pressure will always show you who a person really is!

Yup.....it makes a huge difference.. in getting the time off.. and making the flight arrangements... getting reservations... 4 months means.... spending more for flights.. possibly not getting a room.. and getting the time off when you have to map out your days off for the year[:/]

But it's not like people don't know the event is happening. There's an official boogie website, a calendar section on here, events sections of various magazines ... lots of other ways the information gets out there. Just because HH doesn't let us postwhore about it doesn't mean people can't ask for vacation time and buy plane tickets.

Actually that is exactly what happened and why Spence made the post.

You might want to go back and read the original post by Spence. It was unknown as to IF there would be a Skyfest this year and where and when. So as soon as J had the info he tried to get it out as quickly as possible.

And what I'm saying is that Jay could have posted it on the DZ.com calendar. Or any number of other places. Or posted it in that thread, had it up for a little while for people to see, had it locked, and people could have gotten over it till it was within the 4 month window. That's how every other boogie gets advertised.

It's really sad if someone is unable to request time off at work just because they can't postwhore about it. :S

To anyone considering going to the boogie, I will help you right now:

The dates are in J's sig line. Skyfest is June 4th-9th in South Carolina. J posts on here as "upndownshop". If you have specific questions, he's pretty nice and is good at answering pm's, so go ahead and send him one.

Now, write the dates on your calendar, ask your boss, ask your significant other, save your money and make your fight reservations. If you would like to share a room with someone, send them a pm and ask them if they are going to the boogie. If they say "yes" in their reply, ask if you can sleep with them. :P

This isn't that hard, people. My God, how did anyone ever go to a boogie before Sangiro made dz.com?
