sharimcm 0 #1 January 22, 2008 After battling this nasty flu bug for the past 4-6 days, and countless people telling me, "You should've gotten a flu shot," I just wanted to know how many people really did that... A few years ago, I got my first and last flu shot... I got SO sick and refused to ever get one again. This year, my wonderful aunt obviously gave me the flu, and I'm not sure what was worse... Not getting the shot and getting sick or getting the shot and getting sick... Either way, it's time for my daily 4 hour nap. I think my fever is down to 101 now, so I think I'm good. Icon134 0 #2 January 22, 2008 No flu shot... but I did get the "flu mist" it usually seems to do its job... I don't really enjoy getting the "flu mist" as it's "injected" into your nasal passages and drips down the throat... and has a fairly unpleasant taste (I'd rather get a shot...)Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... peregrinerose 0 #3 January 22, 2008 I'm one of those people that sees no need for taking a vaccine for a relatively benign and quickly adaptable virus. I'm not in the demographic that the flu kills... I'm not a kid, I'm not old, I'm not unhealthy in any way. The flu may knock me for a loop for a few days, but won't kill me, so I'll take my chances. If it was something more virulent, more deadly, or my health status changes, I may reconsider. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
Remster 30 #4 January 22, 2008 I got a shot. It was the 1st time in probably 10 years, but I have loads of co workers with virus incubators (ie small kids) so decided to get one this year. I was gone from the office the last 2 weeks on a trip, and 1/2 the people are out sick with the flu when I came back. Including some who did get the shot, so sounds like it wasnt the right stan for us... I hope I dont get it still...Remster
lauraliscious 0 #5 January 22, 2008 I get the shot every year, otherwise I get pretty sick when it goes around and it knocks me out for a week or so. My BF didn't get the shot. He had some flu-like thing pretty bad right around Christmas. I haven't been sick yet this winter...Hope you feel better soon! SpeedRacer 1 #7 January 22, 2008 some people react badly to the vaccine, others have no problems. I have no problems with it, so I usually get the shot. And I've never gotten the flu when I've had the shot. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

I was the one that was sick for a week because YOUR family gave me the flu! Note to anyone who gets near Scott and his family... get your vaccinations and flu shots.... tigra 0 #10 January 22, 2008 I've never had a flu shot and I rarely get sick. I was feeling a little run down with a cold over Christmas but that's more from not getting enough rest, etc. As someone else said, I am also not in a particular demographic that puts me at a greater risk if I do catch the flu. sunshine 2 #13 January 22, 2008 I used to get the shot every year cause my company at that time had a nurse come in and give us the shot for free. Now i'm too lazy to bother going to a clinic to get the shot. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! sharimcm 0 #15 January 23, 2008 Since I already HAD the flu this year, I think I'm now immune... I'm feeling better day by day. My fever finally broke this morning. As for next year, no flu shot for me. millertimeunc 0 #17 January 23, 2008 When I went active duty a few months ago, I was required to get a flu shot and about 6 other immunizations over the course of a few weeks. The flu shot didn't bother me, just the number of shots they give at one time. They give us up to 3 different vaccinations at a time, which makes you feel terrible for a day or two while your body tries to sort out all the new stuff floating around in it. The best things in life are dangerous.
