What the fuck is wrong with people?

Recommended Posts

I think that today I have completely lost any remaining faith I had in humanity.

My downstairs neighbors have apparently moved and left their cat behind. The poor little thing was out in the rain all night and this morning was sitting under my window, just crying. He was wet, cold and hungry.

I fed him, and am calling rescues to try to find someone that can take him in. He's light grey with white paws and chest, and once clean and dry, he'll be gorgeous! He's very sweet and came right up to me when I approached with cat food.

I don't remember the last time I was this angry. I just don't understand how someone can do this to an animal in their care.

Somebody I used to be friends with did that to a pet dog, but worse. She had an apartment in Birmingham, then moved to Georgia. Left her dog in her old apartment to starve to death. >:(

I hope she's going to be a much better mom to her new baby than she was to that dog. [:/]

I live in an area surrounded by woods...can't tell ya the number of time people just dump domestic animals off here.

We've taken in more than a few and tried to get them placed, but how heartless can you be...dumping off an animal that quickly becomes lost, confused and hungry.

I think i say this at least a few times a day.
It has gotten to the point that the next time I move I am going somewhere where I can just be sounded by wildlife and nature. Fuck people.

...and become wild again. We have the same problem. The local ranchers find their dead calves as a result of the 'dog packs'. When the 'packs' are found they usually come to a sudden demise. The dogs become a 'problem' to residents. I guess, some folks don't realize that those cute, fuzzy big-eyed puppies grow-up. Right now, we're watching-out for a pit-bull, rotweiller and some smaller dogs that have been running in the area. People can be real idiots!

He knew where to go to find love. I'm glad you were around today to give him temporary shelter and work to find him a new home. I guess the only good part of this story is that he seems to be well-socialized so perhaps he was at least well-cared for while he was with them, but why on earth would they think "let's just leave him behind" is a good idea?[:/]

Yeah, but on the flip side there's you who cared enough to take it in, and all the other people who care enough to actually set up and run the rescue centres and other charities, so I think humanity gets back a few brownie points there.

But then you've got genocide - and as a whole we really don't score very well there... it's a complicated balance sheet.
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

It is pretty much exactly that kind of pack that terrorized my neighborhood a few years ago, killing at least one, maybe up to three of my cats. Thankfully, animal control got them before they could do any more damage. :|

Maybe because they knew Kris would find and take care of him. Maybe because it was easier than doing the right thing. Who knows what they were thinking?? I sure don't understand it. :S:|

Yup, people think they're doing Spot a favor by turning him loose so he can live free... they don't realize that the great majority of them get killed and the few that survive go feral...

That pack of dogs in my neighborhood were found to have come from the same house, whose owner was never home. The dogs stayed in a fenced up pen but they dug under the fence and got out. >:(

I've never heard it put this way before, but as soon as I read it, it instantly rang true...I think you're on to something there.

Nightengale, I'm glad you're looking out for the little one.

My dog Rose was a rescue. She came to me as a foster to start out with and I ended up keeping her. He story was that her owners moved away and left her tied up in the backyard. The neighbors didn't report her being left for at least a month. My understand of the stituation was that Rose was always tied up outside so the neighbors kept thinking that the owners would be back:S

Rose has turned in to one of the best dogs I could have ever asked for. I don't know if it's because she is so willing to please me, or if it's because she's scared that she'll be tied up again.

You can count on the feline not being tested for kitty aids, afterall, if the owners were just willing to leave it behind, why would they have spent any money on him/her?

I found a rescue that will take him in! They're on the other side of the county, and I have to drive him down there, but the price of gas is a small price to know he will have a home where he will be warm and safe. I just have to catch him!

You're an awesome person Kris! Thank you for helping the little guy out. :)
I hate people who don't give a shit about their animals (or any animal for that matter). It's a sad world we live in.

Have you spoken to your local animal control people? Many jurisdictions have laws against abandoning pets that way. If it's against the law there and you turn them in, the person who abandoned the animal should get a citation and have to at least pay a fine.>:(

Out here, WE are animal control. We do, have a govt. trapper but, he's up to his hips trying to do something about the coyotes and wild pigs. It's just plain sad, that when people realize they don't want an animal any longer, to do the right thing. We do have places where people can take un-wanted animals but, that's just too much effort. Yet, they'll go out of their way to get a pizza!

Good on you. Your former neighbors can rot, but at least you were there to clean up their mess.:)

On the other side... an animal will tell you a lot about a person.
