Nightingale 0 #26 January 25, 2008 His kennel name is Joseph, and the breeder calls him Jojo. My uncle's name is Joseph, so that's weirding me out. The dog will probably go by Joey until I come up with something better. Right now, all my other critters are named after movies/tv or beer, so I'll probably stick with those themes. ifall 0 #27 January 25, 2008 Quote I don't have a yard for a big dog. You don't necessarily need a yard for a big dog. If I let my 155 lb. English Mastiff outside by himself he'd sit there on the porch very contently. I made sure he got to sniff around the local park at least once a week though.edit: I forgot to say, congrats!! Guinness is the name of one of my chinchillas. She's what they call a "homozygous ebony" which means she's pitch black, and James noticed she was exactly the same color as his beer! The other chinchilla is Tribble (star trek). The cat is Indiana (Jones).

Hopefully he'll let you know what his name is soon. 'Shell

Perhaps you're not getting an answer because it's not your business. Suffice it to say that the breeder and I came to a very reasonable arrangement because she thought I would be a good match for her dog, and she understood how tight money is for me right now because I'm still paying off my cat's vet bills. Conundrum 1 #42 January 26, 2008 lol, okay. I was just wondering. Not sure why you're getting offended. Any particular reason you decided to buy from a breeder and not rescue a dog?
PLFXpert 0 #43 January 26, 2008 Quote And he doesn't look like a Joey. I think Joey is a cute name. It always reminds me of the Concrete Blonde song. Joey doesn't have to be for "Joseph" anymore than "Carrie" must be for "Carolyn". Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
Jewels 0 #44 January 26, 2008 I can't speak for Nightingale, but I'd just guess that it's a pretty public forum in which to share that kind of thing. My mother, for instance, wouldn't share how much she paid for ANYTHING--no matter whether she got it at a bargain or paid twice the going price. Putting it online? It would never happen. Edited to add: Maybe there's a good, masculine-sounding butterfly out there that you could name him after.TPM Sister #
Nightingale 0 #45 January 26, 2008 Because I've never owned a dog before and while I have the time and knowledge to maintain the training of an already well-trained dog, I don't have time to train a dog that is not trained, and I don't have the experience to deal with any issues that a shelter animal may have. My dog's sire and dam were tested for hereditary illness, and his temperament is well established and well known to the breeder, and I can call her to help with any issues that may arise. Shelter animals make wonderful pets (both my cats were rescues), and my next dog will probably be from a rescue, but this time, for my first dog, I wanted an animal that was healthy, good tempered, good with cats, and already trained. Plus, I've wanted a papillon since I was five years old.

PLFXpert 0 #47 January 26, 2008 I paid $150 for the white, alternative-down comforter my beloved mutt sleeps on. It was once mine. He disagreed. I bought another one. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
