Does anyone else feel like....

....they work with a bunch of 5 year olds?

So I've only been working here for 7 months. I only just this week was officially made full-time and started to get benefits. Apparently half the people I work with are pissed about it. They feel I get preferential treatment in some ways.

Well, maybe I do but it's only because I've earned it. I voluntarily worked Thanksgiving, a double on Christmas, and New Years. Most people I work with either insited they needed the holidays off or bitched the whole time they worked or called off at the last minute. Also, I've come in almost every single time they've called and asked if I could come in when I wasn't scheduled to. Most of the time it's like pulling teeth to get someone to come in.

There is one guy here who asks to go home early pretty much everyday and hasn't worked a 40 hour week since I started here and he's pissed that I was made full-time when he lost his benefits cause he refused to work a full 40 hours. (He's in his late 50's...you would think he knows how this works by now.)

The only reason I found out that most people are pissed at me for all of this is because my one supervisor came in tonight and we were just chatting about how things were going at work. She started to mention how it pissed off alot of people when they gave me full-time status and felt comfortable with giving me daylight shifts (there's one woman who's worked here for 7 years and they don't feel comfortable giving her daylight shifts).

I guess I'm just pissed cause this is the first job I've had that I've truly enjoyed and did well at. I just wish people could congratulate me for doing such a great job (in the eyes of my bosses anyway). I mean if people want to get "favored" as I supposedly do maybe they should step-up to the plate every now and then when asked to.

Sorry, rant over.

Yes ... but I'm not sure of your reasons for it.

I got through the first line then couldn't read the rest until I got to "Sorry, rant over".

Paragraphs are your friend. :)

I work on a DZ so yes, I do. The funny thing is they complain about being treated like children after the adult-adult approach didn't get through to them.
Wipe your feet fockers!
If you use it, put it back where you got it.
If you break it, fix it.
If you trash it, clean it up.

Such simple stuff yet they just don't get it...just like a 5-year old.

I do have an exception to the rule though. MY 5-year old was able to do those things. He even came up with his own solutions to "problems" that aggravated Mama.
:D:D:D

As for YOUR situation. Suck it up. The underachievers ALWAYS whine about the overachievers. It makes them feel better. They don't have to think about themselves as being the lazy, good-for-nothing bozos they are.

Typical in today's world. Point at everything except where the real problem lies.

Introspection has been lost by today's kiddies.
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Ahhh yes, it's a common problem. Your co-workers are exhibiting the (now) standard U.S. work ethic while you, on the other hand....perform like an illegal immigrant. You show up, do your job well and earn your wages.....whuudya' 'spect?!! :D They probably can't figure out why all the jobs are going overseas, either!

"T'was ever thus."

It sounds like your boss is one of the five year olds. What possible benefit was there in sharing with you the gripings of the other employees? That's just being one of the gossip mongers.

At any rate, it's good that you've actually been rewarded for going the extra mile. Too often, that's just taken for granted and taken advantage of. Good for you, the hell with the rest of the gripers.:)

First off, good for youB|

The others only make themselves look bad, you dont.

You only have control over what you do, not them.

People nearly always get pissed off when someone else gets on or promoted, instead of feeling good for them - their problem, not yours.

Boy are they in for a shock when you are their boss!!

Go for it lass.
