usedtajump 1 #9 January 25, 2008 Still enjoy listening to most everything she recorded in that era and went to several of her concerts, man was she hot. However, the last time I saw her in concert, about six years ago with Emmylou Harris, she was embarrassingly bad. She was grossly puffed up, behaved as if she was lobotomized and totally forgot the lyrics to three of her own tunes causing the band to stop mid song and go on to the next Emmylou number. Pretty sad evening. Edited for gross spelling mistakes that I forgot to do in the first place. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

Wow, that must have been really sad to see her stumbling through a performance like that--especially when onstage with Emmylou Harris. That could (and should) have been a spectacular performance. BTW, I think grey hair looks really sexy on women but on Emmylou it is completely off the scale of beautiful! Walt
usedtajump 1 #11 January 25, 2008 Yeah, Emmylou has always looked good with graying or gray hair. Have really gotten into her earliest efforts with Gram Parsons lately and she looked equally good back then with dark hair. Either way the voice is as beautiful. Here's a song she wrote in 1973 for Gram Parsons while on a plane to Los Angeles the day after he died. Guess she really was in love with him.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFoZibgaM4Q The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

tigra 0 #19 January 25, 2008 I haven't listened to that one yet, but I loved when she was doing the big band/ Hoagy Carmicheal type stuff. Not to mention, she can bring down the house with her version of the Eagles' Desperado.
happythoughts 0 #20 January 25, 2008 She has an impressive catalog of music. A variety of ballads. Mostly the "heartbreak" variety. From a strictly technical perspective, she had a tremendous vocal range. Blue Bayou is one of those songs. Like the song, or not, it can be challenging to sing. Silver threads and golden needles had a decidedly country flavor to it. She remade a lot of songs from other artists that were huge hits for her. Buddy Holly Eagles Smokey Robinson John David Souther Karla Bonhoff The Little Feat tune Willin and Karla Bonhoffs Someone to lay down beside me are favorites. I saw her live a few times, back in the day. Tampa Stadium - Eagles, Seals and Crofts, Charlie Daniels, Dan Fogelberg, LR. 12-hour show, $5.
