Post your power bill

Recommended Posts

Well, actually I'd like to see what other people are paying for both gas and electricity this month. I've been thinking about energy a lot lately :P;) and doing some calculations. I thought that I was paying about the same amount for propane vs. electric - about 5 cents per kWh. Well guess what? I just had my propane tank filled a few days ago and the price went up!

My propane is currently costing me $2.33/gal, which according to my initial calculations works out to about 8.7 cents per kWh:o

According to my electric bill for this month, electric energy is only costing me about 6.7 cents per kWh.

WTF!!!>:(:o

To make matters worse, it's fucking cold here!

It's a good think we have three dogs and they insist on sleeping with us;)

What are YOU paying right now for your electricity, and/or propane/natural gas???

edit: In $ per kWh and/or $ per gallon please;)

We just moved in November and I haven't got a good handle on the costs yet. Previously, a very small, old house ran $110-$170 per month for electricity, water, sewer, and garbage (city charged all on one bill). Now in a new house about 2.5 times the size, we've got separate bills for sewer + city and irrigation water, electricity, natural gas, and garbage, and it seems like they'll add up to an average a little over $200/month (assuming electricity & gas trade approximately equal significance between summer & winter).

Electricity: $0.10 per kWh
Propane: $2.20 per gallon.

C'mon! you live next door to a hydroelectric plant? 10 cents per kWh???
I'll ship you my batteries for charging! :P;)

Duh! ... disregard that :$ Don't know what I was thinking on that one.

2.20 per gallon for propane is about 8.3 cents per kWh for the propane, about the same as me.

About $120 for electric and about $35 for gas. Not bad in our nice 3 bedroom house.

The stove, oven, water heater and furnace is gas fired, the AC and all other appliances are electric. Not a bad combination, except for the drier which is electric.

I only have electricity, no gas.

The highest last year was $218. Last month was $122. I keep it at 78 in the summer, my family complains that it is too warm but I do have ceiling fans in every room they can turn on. I can't afford the bill if I make it cooler!

I don't know the kWh.

About $4 for electric a month, about $10 for gas. I think electricity is running around 12 cents/kwhr. (Complex because they have a graduated scale.)

Are you living in a highly insulated dog house???[:/]

Ouch! Well, 3300 sq ft. home, 15 years old, gas heat, electric dryer, thermostat set on 68. Our combined gas/electric bill was $350 last month. I thought that was bad, but I guess I'm doing okay.[:/]

Yeah this house is a energy waster like no other I've even lived in.

It's a LOT of glass, 22 windows that are 6' X 4 ' and another 20 of a more 'standard size', we are in the woods and the views are spectacular...but it's all the old single pane non insulating type. :oB|

It also has several 2.5 story cathedral ceilings that do nothing but trap heat way up high...not good in the summer OR winter. [:/]

Edited to add: It's only an 840 sq ft condo.

Condos can be a pretty "green" lifestyle. I'm amazed at folks I know, 2 people, who "need" 4-5000 sq ft. homes. Valinda and I are looking forward to downsizing our lifestyle as the young ones move out. I'd love to have a power bill more like yours.
