ChangoLanzao 0 #1 January 27, 2008 Well, actually I'd like to see what other people are paying for both gas and electricity this month. I've been thinking about energy a lot lately and doing some calculations. I thought that I was paying about the same amount for propane vs. electric - about 5 cents per kWh. Well guess what? I just had my propane tank filled a few days ago and the price went up! My propane is currently costing me $2.33/gal, which according to my initial calculations works out to about 8.7 cents per kWh According to my electric bill for this month, electric energy is only costing me about 6.7 cents per kWh. WTF!!! To make matters worse, it's fucking cold here! It's a good think we have three dogs and they insist on sleeping with us What are YOU paying right now for your electricity, and/or propane/natural gas??? edit: In $ per kWh and/or $ per gallon please

livendive 8 #3 January 27, 2008 We just moved in November and I haven't got a good handle on the costs yet. Previously, a very small, old house ran $110-$170 per month for electricity, water, sewer, and garbage (city charged all on one bill). Now in a new house about 2.5 times the size, we've got separate bills for sewer + city and irrigation water, electricity, natural gas, and garbage, and it seems like they'll add up to an average a little over $200/month (assuming electricity & gas trade approximately equal significance between summer & winter). I'll ship you my batteries for charging! Duh! ... disregard that Don't know what I was thinking on that one. 2.20 per gallon for propane is about 8.3 cents per kWh for the propane, about the same as me. AggieDave 6 #9 January 27, 2008 About $120 for electric and about $35 for gas. Not bad in our nice 3 bedroom house. The stove, oven, water heater and furnace is gas fired, the AC and all other appliances are electric. Not a bad combination, except for the drier which is electric.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
skymama 37 #10 January 27, 2008 I only have electricity, no gas. The highest last year was $218. Last month was $122. I keep it at 78 in the summer, my family complains that it is too warm but I do have ceiling fans in every room they can turn on. I can't afford the bill if I make it cooler! PhreeZone 20 #11 January 27, 2008 I'm paying $ .066300 per KWH of Electricity as part of a Co-Op that typically gives $8-12 back per year (every 10 years for the pay out). My Natural Gas is at a rate of 1.04504 per Ccf.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

It's a LOT of glass, 22 windows that are 6' X 4 ' and another 20 of a more 'standard size', we are in the woods and the views are spectacular...but it's all the old single pane non insulating type. It also has several 2.5 story cathedral ceilings that do nothing but trap heat way up high...not good in the summer OR winter. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
