Rapid Heart Beat

Recommended Posts

My host-dad is just having a problem with his heart beat. It has been very high for the whole day according to him. In the last half hour it was constantly over 160 and he was sitting still.

I know the smartest thing would probably be to go to the hospital, but he does not want to so I thought I might as well ask if anybody ever experienced something like that.

I am completely aware of the fact that not much reliable information is going to come, but it would still be nice to hear from some people who know what they are talking about.

Don't fuck with this - it could be VERY serious - get to someone that can examine him.:|

Next time he needs to go to the ER.

The ER docs will know what this means

Stable tachycardia (fast heartbeat but talking) can quickly convert to UNSTABLE tachycardia (passed out and heart hating it)

Tell him that he needs to call or see his regular doctor tomorrow and let him/her know what happened tonight.

So you and Elvis have something in common? :)

Yep. Chicks thought Elvis was really hot and chicks think I'm...uh, scratch that.

No, the only thing Elivis and I might *ever* have in common is if I die while taking a crap. It would really bother me to die while taking a crap. Especially if any dz.commers are around 'cuz they'll post pics.:D:D:D

Hey, I've been in cardiology for 13 yrs...tachycardia should be looked into. Get him into a specialist (if insurance req's a referral, get his internal med doc to refer)...then get the stress test, 12 lead EKG, Ultrasound, full CBC and blood workup, and most of that should give him a diagnosis of whats going on.

Last year I went thru all that and found out that I had a virus in my pericardium(pericarditis), outer sac of my heart. 30 days later after treatment I was normal again. So perhaps it's that simple for him as well. I hope so.
