marcandalysse 0 #1 February 2, 2008 Saw a great movie on DVD....Michael Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood play father and daughter in "The King of California". In the start of the movie, her father is released from a mental institution. The teenager has been living on her own for years just getting by. Dad is somewhat crazed and takes her on an aventure in search of what may or may not be imaginary treasure. Douglas was really good in this movie....played the part with a fierce crazed look in his eyes...kinda reminded me of some CRW Dogs I know..... Highly recommended. Another good one just out on DVD is "King of Kong". Turns video game competition into great comedic drama.... marc "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton
BASE841 3 #2 February 2, 2008 Dang it! I wish I had read your note just a few days ago. My son and I were standing in the new releases section of our local video store. In one hand was "King of California," in the other was "3:10 to Yuma." I shrugged and told him it was his choice. We had both heard good reviews of 3:10 but nothing about King. He chose 3:10. Got home, watched it. At the end, I asked him what he thought. "That SUCKED!" he told me, and then he explained why. I agreed with each point. So tonight, I think we're going to rent "King of California." Thanks for the tip.
skymama 37 #3 February 2, 2008 I watched that last night. I thought it was a little slow at times, but pretty good. I saw "King of Kong" at the movie theater and posted about it a few months ago. It is definitely worth the rental. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
