lawrocket 3 #1 February 1, 2008 That's what my office computer displayed this morning. I had never heard that term before my law clerk explained it. The IT guy just left. With my tower. "Your hard drive is toast." When they got the e-mail from me explaining what it was I got an e-mail back that said, "Probably big trouble." (Blackberry's rock, but that's another story...) So I googled "Blue Screen of Death" and Wikipedia had my exact error on it! EXACTLY what my own BSoD said! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Windows_2000_BSoD.png SWEET! At least I have company. My wife is hotter than your wife.
pilotdave 0 #2 February 1, 2008 I got that one at work intermittently. Had a hard drive failure at work a while back, so I immediately started backing everything up that I thought I might need (though I barely put anything on my hard drive at work after the first incident). Sure enough, my hard drive was dying. I've killed 2 at work and had one hard drive running windows on my home computer for something like 7 years straight (almost never shut down). Dunno what I'm doing wrong at work! Dave

Your error message is a pretty common one. It can mean that your hard drive has crashed or that the OS installed on it doesn't work properly (well, given that you run Windows, your Operating system isn't working properly in any case, even without the bluescreen. A bluescreen is often an indicator of a hardware error, but not necessarily. Were you able to restart your computer and get a normal startup? In that case, just backup your data, and try to reinstall Windows. Otherwise, if you don't have important data on your computer, just try to reformat the drive and reinstall Windows. Or you could take out the hard drive and install a new one. that works in most cases. But I'm a big fan of reformatting.
