GogglesnTeeth 6 #1 November 13, 2007 and I'm more than a bit sad!!!! We all have one, that home DZ, where we go even on crappy weather weekends to just hang out, and drink from the beer fridge till it's empty. The place where you either did most or all of your training, and wanted to be the place for all of your "firsts." Where your friends there are your family for a year or two, since your real family lives thousands of miles away. Where you see people that you saw just last weekend and greet them with a hug anyway. So my friends, on this friday night... Raise a glass for me for my old home DZ! Blue Skies Skydiving Adventures in Bremerton, WA.... you will surely be missed!!!! ACMESkydiver 0 #7 November 13, 2007 Quote Well, call me out of the loop ... I hadn't heard that. Geesh...I hadn't heard that Blue Skies was closing shop, either. Too bad. Lots of firsts and onlies for me out there, too. Only time I ever spent the night on the DZ...first and only time I ever got pied...my 100th jump...jumping with the GK's...worst road rash I ever had on landing...And of course, Corey and Scotty and Hooters for football. Dang...~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
Krip 2 #8 November 13, 2007 DamnIt might have something to do with the airport construcing a building on one end of the landing area I only live 30 mi away from Bremerton Maybe if I stop by this week and tell Dave I'll stop coming by if he'll change his mind about closing. the new bldg won't seem so bad.The Blue skies DZ reminded me of a old time cessna DZ in the midwest with a all the good vibes, All the modern conveniences were just iceing on the cake. livendive 8 #9 November 13, 2007 Here's what I've seen in Washington since I started jumping, all but Pullman's close being in the last 8-10 years. Stable: Toledo Snohomish New: Mt. Vernon Sequiem (apparently...hadn't heard of it before today) Moved: Mead-to-Davenport-to-Ritzville Shelton-to-Bremerton-to-closed Kapowsin-to-Shelton Port Townsend moved locally Closed: Pullman (Planagan's place) Yakima (Leonard's) Richland (Larry & Bob's) Kennewick (BJ's) Kennewick (Yacek) Bremerton (Blue Skies) Eastern Washington has really contracted. Western Washington appears to have one more DZ now than they did 10 years ago. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" RastaRicanAir 0 #10 November 13, 2007 Damn, been there, lived that. If only there were some words that could alleviate the sad, empty, helpless frustration of these events. Unfortunately, the only thing that can do that is the warm and tender love of a mass OrFun Initiation!!!!! C'mon! Who wants to be our N.W. point person on this one? NWFlyer 2 #16 November 14, 2007 QuoteSequiem (apparently...hadn't heard of it before today) From what I've heard of Sequim it's a few guys who occasionally have a plane, not a DZ per se (at least if I remember correctly)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. shredder 0 #22 February 3, 2008 27B is still in storage in Tacoma, WA. We haven't decided exactly what we're going to do with it yet, either sell it as is, part it out, or put it back together. The email for the dz is still active and you can contact us at skydive@blueskies-skydiving.com if you want more info about it.Learn from the past - don't live in it!
