UFC 81 after thoughts

GO AWAY IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ THE SPOILERS

So Far I have only seen
Lesnar v Mir, (I only saw from the "touch gloves" to the "tap out")
What a great, albiet short, fight.
Brock is no F'n joke. Sure he's a bit sloppy and wild but he came out and made a statement by taking Mir to the ground in .oo1 seconds. Not bad for being a newbie.

I wanted Mir to win and he did but he got his ass kicked. Mir's game plan seems to be "i'll do nothing to defend myself and I will look for some sort of submission. Man, it put me on the edge of my seat.

I'll be watching the rest soon but for now I am F'n thrilled that Mir won.

I haven't!!! But couldn't stop myself from reading the spoiler! I wanted Frank to win too, so I'm glad it worked out! Now I'm more excited about seeing the fight tomorrow. :$

Btw, I've been meaning to post an agreement about BJ Penn's last fight. You're right he isn't as conditioned as I thought he would be. He could barely stand up after the fight...leaning on his coach and Joe during the interview.

Didn't have a pre-thought on it and afterwards care even less.

Now if you meant to type UFO 81, I'd be interested to know the source of your information that there have been 81 so far.

I typed up this in depth reply but the smiley face at the end erased the whole fucking thing so I'll summarize.

BJ looked like an attn hungry drama queen by leaning on everyone. Nope, I couldn't do it but I'm allowed to critique his performance without matching his skills.:D

BJ has been hunting for a belt for a long time and to think that that is as condtioned as he is after he "got serious" is kinda of a joke.

I take it you watched UFC80 ,than?
See, I told you it was boring.:D

Im glad Mir won, I was actually going to put a few $$ on the fight and I should have I bet the odds were in Brocks favor. Which menas the BETTING odds were in favor of betting on Mir.

I wish I could have seen it. I don't do PPVs and there wasn't a place nearby that I wanted to drive to that offered it. I did read the results and it's about what I expected. Brock has the punching power for sure. Another 15 seconds and he might have won it, Mir used his experience and exploited a critical mistake on Lesnar's part. Give Lesnar some time, it was only his 2nd fight. Ju Jitsu is tough to beat when a submission move gets in place. That 6'-8" Tim Silvia knows it too. Who knows, if Lesnar hadn't hit Mir in the back of the head, forcing the ref to stop the fight temporarily, it might have been over in Lesnar's favor. I'd like to see who Lesnar fights next and what he does to improve his own defense. I think his offense is more than enough to overpower most fighters.

Brock will definitely be a great MMA fighter.

But even though Mir got pummled I think he stuck to his game plan.

which was to submit him early.
Mir has no cardio. If the fight with that intensity went into the 3 MINUTE, never mind the 3rd round, Mir would have been gassed.

the Mir lesnar fight was great, I had money on Mir, I knew he could pull it off. I saw a leg submission coming as soon as Lesnar tried to push Mir's leg down and step through, he neglegted his back leg and when Mir took holdof it Lesnar made a white belt mistake, I thought it was going to be a heel hook attempt, possibly a failed one but Lesnar spun THE WRONG FUCKING DIRECTION to get out of it and basicaly handed Mir the kneebar. BJJ is all about capitalizing on your opponents mistakes, never force a submission, set your position and wait for an opening.

The Sylvia Noguera fight showed everyone what we already knew about Minatauro, he's fuckin resilient, Sylvia couldn't put him away. Noguera couldn't get a takedown after the end of the first round so he did a smart thing came in and dropped back with Tim in an X-guard, used it to get a perfect sweep, and again, waited for a mistake to be made. He knew he could survive the ground and pound so he put himself in that position and turned it into pure gold.

I was happy as hell with last nights fights, very few of them went to the ending bell, it was definitely a great night.

And to make the fight even better the guy that made the bet with me was trying to find ways to get out of it so I offered him a double or nothing chance, we grapple for it, he gets to start on my back with an arm across my throat and if I can't reverse it and submit him he gets out of paying me. And as he got more drunk he took another offer, triple or nothing I can reverse it to any type of a submission on the legs, I think I'm gonna offer him another kicker and put a time limit on how long it takes for me to land the submission. I'm gonna clean this guy out!!!
