vdschoor 0 #1 October 31, 2007 So my ipod took a crap after three years of (ab)use. I am thinking maybe get the new 80Gb one and fill that puppy up, or maybe get one without a harddrive in it.. (since I think that's whats broken on my 20Gb one) Any advice? Should I just say screw it and get a Nano (or a Touch) with no hard drive in it.. and have to "plan" my music a bit better? or go back to having my whole collection with me at all times.. BGill 0 #7 October 31, 2007 don't get the touch. for the size of the device it has very little storage. i have an 8gb nano and love it because i mostly use it when i run. if you have a big collection of music and dont mind the size, i'd go for the big storage regular one. murrays 0 #9 October 31, 2007 I have a 2nd gen Nano and use it far more often than my old 20gb Hard Drive iPod. I really like the light weight. It's easy to change the music. If you want to carry a lifetime of music with you for long trips or something then get the 80gb. 8gb is a lot of music. I have 8.18 gb on my machine at work and iTunes tells me that is about 4 days of music...5.3 if you bother to sleep The flash units are quicker/more responsive and you don't have to worry about them getting dropped, etc. I really like the 3rd gen Nanos. They fit in the hand better than I thought they would when I first saw the photos of them and the screen is really sharp. I started with a 4gb nano then treated myself to a 30gb with part of my tax return last year. I like the nano for the gym but my SO keeps stealing it! The larger one is kind of awkward when I am working out, and the nano is the perfect size! He says I'm greedy to keep both, I say he should get his own. I don't take his expensive toys!
