ifall 0 #1 February 7, 2008 I've been staying in a hotel for the past couple weeks and will be for a few more to come. This morning I woke up and rubbed my eyes as I was walking to the bathroom and it felt like I had a bruise or something below my right eye. I looked in the mirror and my eye was a little puffy and red. I haven't had any problems staying here the past couple weeks but I'm wondering if something could have bitten me overnight like a bed bug or something. I don't put the "do not disturb" sign up so they clean my room everyday but now I'm kind of creaped out about maybe something in my bed. How do you check for that? I tore my sheets off and inspected everything, even the mattress and no signs of bugs or anything. It is a Comfort Inn hotel and seems to be very clean and I haven't seen spiders or any other type of bugs in my room. There are no other unusual marks on any other part of my body. Anyone else ever have something similar to this happen to them? I'm not a germaphobe nor am I afraid of bugs but I am now thinking of sleeping in the other bed in my room tonight instead of this one. My room has two queen sized beds.

My room has two queen sized beds. You would probably have more than just one bite if it were a bed bug. And sleeping in the OTHER bed probably won't help, if it IS a bed bug problem. I work in a student residence. We went through this problem last winter (problem since eradicated). And they don't just bite once. At least from what I know. Just my uneducated but have experienced it 2 cents worth (Cdn or American, take your pick).'Shell
skymama 37 #4 February 7, 2008 I read a story about this in Reader's Digest just the other day. You can definitely get bed bugs from a hotel that "looks" clean. I think you should strip the bed and look in all the creases of the mattress. A flashlight might help if you can get ahold of one. The most important thing is to make sure you don't bring them home with you in your luggage or you'll have to treat your entire house. I definitely don't want to take anything home with me!! And I don't know if I even want to look at that link. I've been having enough of a hard time getting to sleep.edit: So I did look at the link and have to say thanks! Now I just need a flashlight. It doesn't say how big they are though. The_Don 0 #7 February 7, 2008 If you can. Boil a teabag & place it on your eye while it's still very warm. Should do the trick.I am NOT being loud. I'm being enthusiastic!
