shermanator 4 #1 February 10, 2008 What is your favorite instrument in the winds family? I know that my poll does not cover every instrument, but the basic classes of them. Mine would have to be the Euphonium. I enjoy the rich sound that it produces, it is not nasely like the trombone, but still a tenor. When it wants to, it can sound like a tuba, or go to the opposite end of the spectrum and sound like one of them french horns. When played right, this horn is a magnificant instrument worthy of the brass family!CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #

shermanator 4 #13 February 10, 2008 from my understanding, there is the soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass, and contrabass sax, with some minor differences in between the classes as well. the one the kid has confuses me a bit, I think it is a bass, but he calls it a contra. I would love to get my lungs back to what they used to be, and play a few notes on a bass. I miss playing baritone sax. *dreams*CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #
Zenister 0 #14 February 10, 2008 well per the wiki and a half remembered conversation with Dana ages ago.. there were some significant changes in the manufacturing and engineering that made them much easier to play... i know Dana had one for a while but never took one on tour until he got another modern version... edit: comparing the instruments found on youtube seems to show there is a Bass (the one Dana and that kid have) and a ContraBass the one in your first link..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Snowwhite 0 #22 February 10, 2008 Yea, and technically a trumpet is a Brass family member, and Saxophones are members of the Sax family, so this list is a whole bunch of stuff that you blow that you on, but are not really necessarily members of the "wind" family. Ok, so the thread goes down hill from here. On the other hand, I had a boss who was a tremendous sax man. He was highly in demand, and members of the tonight show used to come in to have him repair their instruments. Hey, not bad for middle Illinois. GogglesnTeeth 6 #25 February 10, 2008 I thought this was going to be about wind testing instruments for skydiving. You know like wind meters, WDI's, etc..... Along that lines, I think the best WDI is tossing out a student on static line and seeing which way they drift!! Goggles and Teeth "You fall like a greased safe!!!"
