They are just doing what they had already made their mind up to before they asked for the advice

Why do people ask for advice on jumping and do the inverse of what they are told?

I am guilty of this but as I progress in my jumping career I see how silly my actions have been. Is it just human nature???

You??!!! :o:o:o I don't believe it for a second. :|

I see this dynamic all the time with my (music) students - I've come to believe that it's mostly about patience, and the attention span of the modern human. Everybody wants to be "done" (as quoted by Brian Germain).

It's too much effort for them to take their time and learn the correct technique correctly, and little baby steps toward an ultimate goal is more than some peoples' short attention spans will allow.

Damn! Freakin' horror memories. Thanks.>:(

My dad when I was young and starting in music:
-Do your scales...ALL of them.
-Do your arpeggios in every key...ALL of them.
-Do these exercises...ALL of them.
-OK...now you can play a song.

What a guy...damn glad that he made me go through all that.
:)
Students are a trip. You tell 'em. You tell 'em again. You tell 'em to tell you what you just told them. You have them demonstrate it several times. You tell 'em to teach you or somebody else what you just taught them...and then they go out an screw it all up.

:D:D:S[:/]
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

People don't want advise, they want confirmation.
