BillyVance 35 #1 February 13, 2008 A female CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time. So she went to check it out. She went to the Western Wall and there he was, walking slowly up to the holy site. She watched him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, using a cane and moving very slowly, she approached him for an interview. 'Pardon me, sir, I'm Rebecca Smith from CNN. What's your name? 'Morris Fishbien,' he replied. 'Sir, how long have you been coming to the Western Wall and praying?' 'For about 60 years.' '60 years! That's amazing! What do you pray for?' 'I pray for peace among the Christians, Jews and the Muslims. I pray for all the wars and all the hatred to stop. I pray for all our children to grow up safely as responsible adults, and to love their fellow man.' 'How do you feel after doing this for 60 years?' 'Like I'm talking to a stinkin' wall.'"Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

gavi_omen 0 #5 February 14, 2008 That's kind of an asshole-ish thing to say. I also think it's kind of an ignorant thing to say. I've spent a fair amount of time there, and I'm going to be serving in the Israeli army within the next couple of years (and no, I'm not Israeli nor do I have family there). But I have an understanding of what has happened there, what is happening there, and that the country of Israel is an establishment worth fighting for. And to have an understanding of the situation there is to realize that the world and the media sees the situation there much differently than the people that actually live there. As I have heard it stated, and quite accurately at that, "If the Arabs lay down their guns there will be peace. If we lay down our guns there will be no Israel." Peace in the middle east is not about concessions, be them for land or purely a gesture. Peace, as it's defined by the bulk of the Arab population there and by the bulk of the world in fact, will only come when Israel is destroyed. Wow, that was kind of a rant. Sorry about that. There's no such thing as free will; everything is dictated by the Uncertainty Principle.

Its the REALITY. And I have been one of the proponents of that exact phrase Quote As I have heard it stated, and quite accurately at that, "If the Arabs lay down their guns there will be peace. I realize that more so than many here.. and do not believe peace is possible till EVERYONE gets tired of killing each other thereso nothing has really changed in what .................3000+ years. gavi_omen 0 #8 February 14, 2008 Thanks Turtle, I think it's great that you're sick and tired of hearing overly opinionated people spout their opinions as fact.
