kschilk 0 #1 February 14, 2008 This is a handy gadget, a string-stretcher that was included in a set of Fender Super Bullets I'd bought a few years ago. This is the only one I've ever seen and I'd like to get a few more, for spares and for some of my playin' buddies. I've searched online but all I can come up with, is the patent info. Anybody know where I can find 'em?"T'was ever thus."
skymama 37 #2 February 14, 2008 It looks like something you would put on a toilet to potty-train a child. I had to do a double take and reread what the thread was about! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

lawrocket 3 #6 February 14, 2008 You can find them around. I tried using one once and preferred just to stretch the strings manually... My wife is hotter than your wife.
kschilk 0 #7 February 14, 2008 I'd left it in the case of a guitar that I hadn't played in a while and forgot where it was. I was hatin' life for almost a year, 'til I found it...with 5 guitfiddles (2 of 'em 12s), it was a huuuuge time saver."T'was ever thus."
MrPeapit 0 #8 February 14, 2008 I don't get it. Is it any easier than just pulling up a new set of strings by hand as you install them?1st jump August 6, 1977. Last jump July 8, 2006.
kschilk 0 #9 February 14, 2008 QuoteI don't get it. Is it any easier than just pulling up a new set of strings by hand as you install them? I think it is, definitely easier on the fingies. The string snaps into the arch, on the stretcher....I start at the pickups, pull out on the string and rock the tool forward, going toward the headstock, then rock it back and slide it back down to the bridge. Once or twice on each string and I usually never (after final tune to pitch) have to retune. I used to break a lot of high strings, stretching by hand...especially on the 12s but since using this, I haven't broken any. I know some of the string winders (Planet Waves) have a stretcher built into them but I don't think they're nearly as convenient."T'was ever thus."
