blackout 0 #1 February 15, 2008 Anyone ever been scared even after 15 jumps? I only had 1 jump with a minor line twist and for some reason find myself shitting bricks even thinking about it. I think about skydiving all the time and it gives me butterflys but i still want to do it more than anything. Anyone else ever get this? Think its normal? virgin-burner 1 #2 February 15, 2008 i think thats normal. the more you jump, the more casual it becomes.. wait another 50 jumps and see how you feel then..“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Squeak 17 #4 February 15, 2008 Hell yeah i have over 800 and i still get a bit scared from time to timeGREAT aint it. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
Skyrad 0 #5 February 15, 2008 Very normal. Ask yourself what is it that you are afraid of. Then go through the scenario and your 'actions on'. Remember that fear is your friend when its controlled, it will keep you sharp and alive complacency kills. Thats why so many C licences die more than A licences (last time I looked.) We all get afraid sometimes anyone who says they don't is either lying or lying. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Nutz 0 #6 February 15, 2008 I have almost 500 jumps and I am still scared every time. The more you do it the more relaxed you get about it. Fear is your friend. "Don't! Get! Eliminated!"
jonstark 8 #7 February 15, 2008 I was scared out of my wits for at least the first 20 jumps. These took about 5 months to complete with the foul weather in Pittsburgh that winter. Driving to the DZ was difficult. I always wanted to turn around and go home but what the hell would I do if I did that. I'd hope for strong winds and watch the smokestacks along the way feeling secure that it was too windy but on arrival at the DZ the winds were OK. I did get to hang around the clubhouse a lot and that experience was priceless. Have fun. jon
Andy_Copland 0 #8 February 15, 2008 Jump 50 was the one for me, just a factor of different reasons. But i was really pretty terrified and it just felt odd as i thought i was over the fear factor by jump 7 or so First time at a new DZ, unfamiliar rig and a different A/C I distinctly remember being the last one to exit doing a solo and being alone in the plane just thinking "what the fuck am i doing this for" as my legs carried me out and turned to face the prop blast for my first rear exit. Was brilliant fun. Totally normal.1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
CSpenceFLY 1 #9 February 15, 2008 I can remember being uptight through about jump 50. Then I was calm for a while. Then I learned all of the things that can kill you in this sport and I was never calm again.my opinion is the day you don't have just a little bit of that feeling is the day you have become complacent

lawrocket 3 #11 February 15, 2008 I was terrified for all of my 18. How can you expect NOT to be with a danger so readily apparent. My wife is hotter than your wife.
