livendive 8 #1 February 16, 2008 No, I don't need advise on how to use/abuse them recreationally. I'm going to be involved in an "intervention" type thing on Sunday and could really use some tips from someone who knows how these things work (or don't work). NWFlyer 2 #5 February 16, 2008 I can recommend several "very special episodes" of Beverly Hills 90210 that dealt with that very topic. Maybe that'll help. Seriously, nothing much to offer in the way of serious useful info from my end as I've been fortunate not to have to take it to that point with any loved ones (so far). I wish you the best and hope that you're able to have the impact you are looking for. I'm sure that'll be a tough day for you. LisaH 0 #6 February 16, 2008 Be straight forward and honest. No matter how angry and defensive they get. Don't cave in to the tears. And be there during recovery. An intervention saved my life. I'm 18 years clean today. Good luck! Be yourself! MooOOooOoo
livendive 8 #7 February 16, 2008 QuoteWhich side of the intervention to you see yourself being on? The side that wants to help someone see that their series of choices aren't merely unfortunate coincidences. The side that wants to convince the person that they deserve and can achieve a better life, but only if their judgement is clear, not constantly clouded by dangerous substances. Beyond that, I suppose I don't understand the question. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

And a very, very, VERY tall order. I hope for the best for you. -Don't put it upon yourself if the person in question reverts back to 'victim of life's horrible circumstances' BS and goes right back to it in the future, though. Always look for the best, but in the end it is not your fault if they go back to it. Damn noble of you to care, though.~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
