kbordson 8 #1 February 17, 2008 I was thinking... if you had a few months off and wanted to tour the US, where would you go? What would be on the MUST SEE list? (now don't JUST include dropzones, although they can be on the itinerary, include other cool things that you have/wish to do or see as well.) My journey: Start in LA (including, of course a "HELLO!" to LisaH and VanillaSkyGirl.) And what good would it be to visit that close and not go to S'nore ("HI, MEL!!!!!") and the Perris Tunnel. Over to Vegas for a bit of gambling (but it's bright and gaudy so not too much). And of course a jump or two here at Vegas Extreme ("Hi Eddie!"). Then a look at some of the beautiful National Parks. (use this map to orient) - Grand Canyon, up to Yellowstone, Devils Tower (do some rock climbing), Deadwood (real gambling)/Sturgis (real bikes)/Black Hills(real beauty). Over to Wisconsin (Hi Mom) including a visit to American Players Theater for a story by the Bard in the woods of Spring Green and stop at The Safe House in Milwaukee. (click on the door to access that website) Then starts a journey south via St. Louis with Cahokia, hope over to Kansas City (why? I wish I could come up with a GREAT reason to visit KC.... but.....) and then down to Dallas, Texas to play at TacPro and MotorSport Ranch Over to New Orleans. (LOTS OF FUN TO BE HAD THERE!!) And over to Florida: Deland/ Kennedy Space Center/ ZHlls/ Epcot/ Everglades - but NO petting the crocagators!!!! (so many people to say "Hi" to in Florida.... cuz that's where all the smart ones are staying, aint that right Mike?) Journey north starts through Georgia, visiting Callaway Gardens and The Farm. Then up to Smoky Mountains and over to Ft Bragg - Raeford and the tail of the dragon and of course the new Paraclete Wind Tunnel. Continuing north to Washington DC to see the monuments and museums (esp the Smithsonian), Philadelphia (over to visit a dear friend and say "Hi, MomRaff"), New York City (the Statue, The City, The Shows, Central Park.... and Peter!!), Boston What trips would you make? I really just love the beach ... but I would have a hard time living in CA.
upndownshop 0 #5 February 17, 2008 Other than three of the tourist sites you have picked I have been to all of those. My time as a Mfr. Rep in this industry enabled me to drive thru the 48 states. Niagara Falls would be a place I would go again. Maine for more Lobster. Hit Tennessee in Oct, the view is beautiful in the fall. Back to the Olympic Mountains. Ole Faithful is always nice. Still enjoy driving the country. As a matter of fact I think i will drive from Tx to S Carolina when I have to head out for SkyFest. Hope you get to make some of those some tie. Ok, gotta ask - why Saginaw, Michigan. There is NOTHING there. Unless you know somebody, there is nothing there to attract anyone to visit. Maybe Bay City, or Midland (Dow Chemical), but nothing in Saginaw...??? And yes, I know Saginaw - I spent the first 26 years of my life there, born and bred, until I fled for the East Coast. jdthomas 0 #13 February 17, 2008 many of the citys you listed are major citys, why not some smaller towns along the way where history can be just as rich, easier to get to and sometimes better for the sole. having only lived in KC for the last 3 years I have seen alot that it has to offer and you can find a rich history to take in as well. The liberty memorial, steamboat arabia, great BBQ if you are a nascar fan we have the new raceway and will have a tunnel within 2 years at the shliterbahn water park. But I go back to why does it have to be KC, why not lawrence, Atchison, dodge city.. the list goes on.www.greenboxphotography.com

kbordson 8 #15 February 17, 2008 Why those cities? Cuz most of those that I listed, I either have family or friends. Why have fun all alone? (and yes, I know Kansas City has some nice attractions.... but it's not really known for much besides the Jazz district and being The Cowtown. I've been 10yrs)

I can give you an itinerary that would keep you busy in all of Oregon. I lived there for three years, Karen. Oregon is one place you want to visit. Powell's City of Books in Portland, Forest Park, All the waterfalls on the HIstoric Highway. The Japanese Gardens are the best, the rose gardens, on and on. And that's just Portland. Then there is Ashland for the Shakespeare fest with all of the B&B's and Crater Lake just north. God I miss it up there.

Birch Run had the potential to be better than it is, they just tried to do everything on the "cheap". Didn't work.
