32" Sony TV -Is This Repairable?!

Recommended Posts

I FULLY admit to being electronically challenged. :$ I have NO CLUE about these things (and yes I already understand the irony of being stoopid about electronics and having been a 31C in the army. :D:D)

M'kay...little Joey has a fascination with flipping things on and off really fast...light switches, phones, TV's, etc. He flipped our Sony TV on and off super fast and then on about his 5th flip it wouldn't turn on any more. "NO! [flip] Joey! [flip] Stop [flip] touching [flip] that TV! [flip-ping...]". B|:(

It is getting power (the little red power light is on) but the screen won't light up at all. We tried unplugging it, looked for a reset button on it or something...looked to see if he activated a timer of some sort...nadda. [:/]

Um, any ideas? Did that blow out the picture tube thingy? Can it be fixed? Damn I'm buying a little kid guard to go across the front so he can't touch the buttons next time... :(

I really really don't have any extra $$'s floating around at the moment to just go buy another freaking TV. We really like having that one because it's in our bedroom in front of the treadmill and weight bench so obviously we watch it while working out...and my pilates and other workout DVD's will be kinda useless if I can't get it working again...

Is it a flat screen (LCD or Plasma) or a CRT? The CRT could be repaired, although it might cost as much as a new TV.

You know you can get a 32" LCD pretty cheap now days (relatively speaking). You can get a 32" non-flat screen TV for under $350 now days too.

I have one of those on my TV. It doesn't work unless you nail or screw the sucker down to the TV stand and it needs to be at least 3 inches higher than the buttons, so the kids can't pull the fucker out or reach behind it. I know... :P

It's not a flat screen or anything fancy. Just a regular ol' 32" TV.
