phoenixfire53 0 #1 February 20, 2008 Hey, So I've got 2 computers (1 XP, 1 Vista) connected via a wired router. I'd like to bring up music on one computer, through either local mp3 files or internet streamed (through Pandora.com) and have the music play not only on the first computer's speakers, but on the second computer's as well. Any ideas on if this is possible and how I could go about doing it? Thanks! Dave

PhreeZone 20 #3 February 20, 2008 That would work if he's wantign to share just the files back and forth but to have the stream/music playing on both computers speakers is going to have to be done either be setting up your own internal streaming server and having the clients connect to it (shoutcast works for that) or hardwiring the speakers together.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Icon134 0 #4 February 20, 2008 you can set up a media server on any of the PCs which should give you access any media you want from any PC as well as several external media players (such as those designed for televisions) Windows media player does have the capability to do this... but I perfer the (free) TVersity media server and I have it running on my Vista desktop. It is looking at two (Samba) shared shared drives on a linux file server (using a gigabit lan switch) and I can look at pictures, play music, and videos on my laptop, and on my two HDTV's using my DirecTV HR20-DVRs with their Mediashare. drunk 0 #6 February 20, 2008 Take a look at http://www.videolan.org (freeware). You can stream multiple mp3 files (like a playlist). Edited to make it "clicky".
